Playing on one of, if not the best team in Georgia, Jakai Newton and the Newton Rams are off to a 4-0 start to the 2021-22 campaign. They are ranked No. 1 in the state’s class 7A. Here are a few quick notes on Newton from his first few contests. Relentless Hoops’ Trent Markwith wrote this about Newton’s performance over the weekend: “Jakai Newton is a pure scorer who’s always in attack mode,” Markwith wrote. “The Indiana commit finished with 17 points & 5 rebounds but his 17 points were all loud buckets that got the crowd on their feet.…

For far too many times to count at this point, Trayce Jackson-Davis has been asked about the development of his perimeter shot. Each time he politely answered that he has been working on it, but first and foremost, he planned to take what the defense gave him. On Saturday night, to the shock of many including the IU staff, what Marshall gave Jackson-Davis was one-on-one post coverage. And even when Marshall started to double the post they were still giving Jackson-Davis openings in the paint, because with his explosive first step and IU spacing the floor well, he doesn’t need…

Let’s take a deeper look at how the Hoosiers finished off Marshall for the 90-79 win with another edition of The Report Card. IU (6-0) will travel to Syracuse on…
No time was wasted when it came to fixing what had become a clearly broken offense. Indiana head football coach Tom Allen announced on Sunday morning that Nick Sheridan will no longer serve as the program’s offensive coordinator. “I want to thank Nick for his work and commitment to our football program,” Allen said. “He is a good football coach and a man of tremendous character, but we are in the need of a reset on the offensive side of the ball. We will begin our search for Nick’s replacement immediately.” In order to make this change and help alleviate…

Indiana handed the Old Oaken Bucket back to Purdue on Saturday in West Lafayette, and with that their season mercifully came to an end. At a sold-out Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, the Hoosiers’ offense did what it has done many times in recent weeks — produced early points. And then the offense did what it has done for most of the season — next to nothing on a day that started rainy and cold but cleared as the afternoon turned to evening. For IU the day did the exact opposite — started bright and quickly turned gloomy. Walk-on quarterback…

The Hoosiers took a 1-0 lead into halftime after Victor Bezerra scored on a penalty kick after he was taken down in the box. Playing on their home field in Seattle, Washington tied it up in the 48th minute in what became a back and forth affair after the break. Spencer Glass trailed an attack and dropped in a shot towards the far post to regain the lead, 2-1, but Washington found the equalizer in the 75th minute to force…
