The Philadelphia 76ers announced Tuesday evening via release the team has re-signed former IU basketball one-and-done star Eric Gordon. It’s a one-year, veteran’s minimum deal worth $3.6M, Sixers beat reporter Derek Bodner notes. Gordon, who originally signed with the 76ers on July 10, 2024, averaged 6.8 points and shot 40.9-percent from beyond the arc (42.6% FG, 75.0% FT) to go along with 1.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 39 games (13 starts) last season. Indiana added to an already impressive group of 2026 defensive linemen with a commitment from Cameron McHaney on Tuesday afternoon. McHaney announced his verbal pledge to the Hoosiers on his social media pages.  He told Tom Loy of 247Sports he chose IU because “he fit the scheme perfectly.” The 6-foot-1 and 315-pound McHaney picked IU over four other finalists:  Illinois, Louisville, Purdue and Vanderbilt.  He took official visits to his finalists over the last couple months. Based on the average of the national sites, McHaney is the No. 408 overall player in the class, and the No. 39 defensive lineman. …

Indiana has offered class of 2026 4-star big man Marcis Ponder, he reported on his Instagram page. A product of Miami, Fla., Ponder attends Gillion Academy in Virginia.  He played over the weekend at the DMV Live event where the IU staff was watching prospects. Ponder might be the most physically imposing player in the rising senior class.  He is typically described in the neighborhood of 7-feet and 320 pounds.  He goes by the nickname ‘The Big Show’ and has been called ‘Baby Shaq.’ In the average of the national rankings, Ponder is a 4-star, the No. 67 overall player…

A trio of seniors who followed IU football coach Curt Cignetti from James Madison to Indiana will represent the Hoosiers at the Big Ten’s media day July 22 in Las Vegas. Wide receiver Elijah Sarratt, linebacker Aiden Fisher, and edge rusher Mikail Kamara are the three players who will join Cignetti at the annual event next month. If you blinked you might have missed Luke Fischer’s Indiana basketball career. But the 6-foot-11 Fischer is reuniting with some of his former IU teammates on the Assembly Ball IU alumni team in the 2025 edition of the basketball tournament. A top-100 recruit coming out of high school in the class of 2013, Fischer left IU before the calendar hit 2014. Seeing a limited role behind Noah Vonleh, he averaged 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in 13 games for IU. Fischer was part of a highly touted recruiting class that also included Vonleh, Troy Williams, Stanford Robinson and Devin Davis.…

IU outfielder Devin Taylor is a unanimous All-American. With the release of D1 Baseball’s All-American teams, Taylor was honored by every major outlet following his outstanding junior campaign. Taylor becomes just the third player in program history to be named as a unanimous All-American. Kyle Schwarber and Dustin DeMuth were both awarded the same honor following IU’s 2014 campaign. Many West Virginia fans did not handle the news of Darian DeVries’ sudden departure well. And that’s understandable. Just days after learning the Mountaineers were snubbed by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, DeVries was announced as the new head coach of Indiana. Two gut punches in just a few days. Indiana is still expanding its class of 2026 offer list. Rising senior wing Aiden Derkack announced an offer from the IU staff on Sunday afternoon. According to the industry average of the national recruiting outlets, Derkack is a 4-star, the No. 84 overall player in the 2026 class, and the No. 24 shooting guard. The 6-foot-6 Derkack attends Colonia H.S. in Colonia, N.J., where he averaged 24.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game as a junior. Indiana continued to expand its offer list in the class of 2027 over the weekend. Melbourne, Fla. product Martay Barnes announced an offer from the IU staff on his social media pages. The 6-foot-2 Barnes attends Academy of Central Florida and played in front of the IU staff this weekend at the DMV Live event in the Washington D.C. metro area. For the second time in two years, IU football has cancelled a future nonconference series with a Power 4 opponent. Two years ago Tom Allen’s Hoosiers bought their way out of a home-and-home set of games against Louisville. And now according to a report by the Herald Times, Indiana has once again paid to get out of a home-and-home series — this time previously scheduled 2027 and 2028 games against Virginia.
