Indiana will be shorthanded against Penn State on Sunday in Philadelphia. Junior starting forward and leading scorer Malik Reneau is out vs. the Nittany Lions after suffering an injury on Thursday. The Daily Hoosier understands Reneau could be out 1-3 weeks with his lower body injury.  There’s a chance this is the only game he misses. Jakai Newton and Gabe Cupps are also out for IU, while Oumar Ballo is questionable for the third straight game.  Ballo is expected to play. Indiana picked up a commitment from Michigan transfer wide receiver Tyler Morris on Saturday. The 5-foot-11 and 185-pound Morris has appeared in 34 career games at wide receiver with 12 starts for the Wolverines. In 2024 Morris played in 11 games and caught 23 passes for 248 yards and two scores.  He was the top wide receiver for the Wolverines in receiving yards as part of inept passing attack.  Morris played about half of his snaps lined up in the slot and half out wide.  He had two drops. Offensive lineman Kahlil Benson is transferring back to Indiana after one season at Colorado. Benson started the first four games of the 2024 season at right guard for the Buffs and then missed two games due to injury. When he returned, Benson didn’t start, but was part of a rotation at guard. A versatile offensive lineman, he also played some at right tackle. The Mississippi native missed the last two games, including the Valero Alamo Bowl, with an injury. Overall he played 405 snaps in nine games this season according to PFF, but only 139 of those snaps came after…

Indiana has added a second veteran quarterback from the transfer portal. Old Dominion transfer signal-caller Grant Wilson is headed to Bloomington according to multiple reports. The 6-foot-3 and 217-pound Wilson is a product of Arlington, Va. Wilson started three games at quarterback for ODU in 2024 before his season was ended by an injury.  He completed 46-of-86 passes for 507 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. Indiana has made a major addition to their offensive line for 2025. Ohio State transfer offensive tackle Zen Michalski has signed with the Hoosiers according to multiple Friday evening reports. Michalski is from Floyds Knobs, Ind.  He attended Floyd Central H.S. The 6-foot-6 and 319-pound Michalski has appeared in 19 games for the Buckeyes, and will have one year of eligibility remaining — his redshirt senior season. Michalski was a four-star recruit in the 2021 recruiting class. He was the No. 229 overall player, the No. 22 offensive tackle and No. 3 player in the state of Indiana for his…

Kurtis Rourke’s 2024 season at Indiana was already going down as the greatest by a quarterback in program history. But the lore grew on Friday after a report he may have chosen to play the entire season with a torn ACL. In a game where both teams were playing without their leading scorers, IU’s superior balance prevailed. With its defense struggling, Indiana fell behind by seven midway through the first half.  But a 22-8 run going into halftime, and a 13-4 start to the second gave the Hoosiers breathing room.  The Scarlet Knights got to within six with 9:05 left, but never any closer as IU stretched the lead back out to double figures and held off Rutgers. BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana defeated Rutgers at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Thursday evening by a final score of 84-74. The Hoosiers led 41-34 at halftime.  They were led in the game by Myles Rice with 21 points.  Oumar Ballo added 17 and Mackenzie Mgbako had 16. Indiana forward Malik Reneau suffered a lower body injury very early in the first half against Rutgers on Thursday evening in Bloomington. He has been ruled out of the game. Reneau got a dunk off the opening tip, but just 29 seconds into the game he fell to the court along the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall north baseline after apparently banging his knee while playing defense. The 6-foot-9 junior required attention from the training staff, but was helped to his feet, walked on his own, and appeared to leave the court without a significant limp.
