Defensive end Ryder Anderson will get a chance to make the Green Bay Packers’ roster starting at their rookie minicamp in May the IU football program announced on Sunday. Anderson joined the Hoosiers as a transfer from Ole Miss on Jan. 12, 2021. He led Indiana’s defensive linemen with 48 tackles, 28 solos, 3.5 sacks (21 yards), and 8.5 for loss (30 yards). Indiana made a spring transfer portal add on Sunday when former Tennessee wideout Andison Coby announced his commitment. He appeared in five games for Tennessee and had one reception for five yards in 2021. The 6-foot-2 Coby was a three-star junior college wide receiver who enrolled at Tennessee in January 2021 and then participated in spring practice with the Vols. He played the 2020 season at Northeast Mississippi Junior College and finished with 24 catches for 422 yards and seven touchdowns. Two more Hoosiers have signed NFL undrafted free agent deals on Saturday. Tight end Peyton Hendershot will join Ty Fryfogle in Dallas, and safety Raheem Layne has signed with the Los Angeles Chargers. Both deals were announced by the IU football program. Hendershot finished his career as the Hoosiers tight ends receptions (136) and yardage (1,479) leader. The three-time All-Big Ten selection finished second with 14 touchdowns. Two former IU football players quickly signed free agent deals soon after the conclusion of the 2022 NFL Draft. Wide receiver Ty Fryfogle signed with the Dallas Cowboys and has a camp invite there according to multiple reports. Offensive tackle Caleb Jones signed with the Green Bay Packers, also according to multiple reports. Fryfogle finished his career sixth on Indiana’s career lists in receptions (158) and yardage (2,231), and tied for 10th in receiving touchdowns (10) in 53 games (33 starts). Former Indiana linebacker Micah McFadden extended the program’s NFL Draft streak when he was selected in the fifth round by the New York Giants on Saturday afternoon. McFadden was the 146th overall player taken in the 2022 Draft, going earlier on the third day than many had expected. The Tampa, Fla. product finished his IU career with 216 tackles, 149 solo, 14 sacks (94 yards), 37 for loss (169 yards), four interceptions, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and four pass breakups. Former IU football player Patrick Kraft will assume the role of Penn State Director of Athletics on July 1. Kraft has a 15-year career in intercollegiate athletics that includes leadership roles at Boston College, Temple University, Loyola University Chicago and IU. He was widely thought to be in the running to replace Fred Glass at Indiana in 2020. “This is a special opportunity, and I am incredibly honored to join Penn State’s best-in-class athletics program,” Kraft said in a Penn State release.
