Indiana junior guard Trey Galloway had surgery Tuesday related to a groin injury suffered during the 2021-22 season, The Daily Hoosier has confirmed. Galloway injured his groin in a game against Wisconsin in February and returned for the Big Ten and NCAA Tournaments. While his full recovery period is to be determined, the surgery is not expected to cause Galloway to miss any fall practice or time during the 2022-23 season. 13 of IU’s 22 programs earned perfect 1,000 APR scores for the 2020-21 academic year, according to the latest NCAA Academic Progress Report (APR) data released today. The 13 IU programs that earned a perfect APR score for the 2020-21 academic year are men’s basketball, women’s basketball, women’s cross country, men’s golf, women’s golf, men’s soccer, softball, men’s swimming, women’s swimming, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, volleyball, and wrestling, IU Athletics said in a release. A year ago Mike Woodson made a quick trip back to New York soon after he was hired and introduced as the new head coach of Indiana. It should come as no surprise, but the return of Trayce Jackson-Davis has given a major boost to Indiana’s odds to hang a sixth banner. In fact, a winning bet on IU winning a title in Houston next April only pays half as much as it before the All-Big Ten forward said he would play his senior year in Bloomington. On3’s Joe Tipton is reporting 2024 forward Asa Newell will take an unofficial visit to IU.  Newell was already in Indiana for the Crossroads Invitational camp this weekend. The 6-foot-9 power forward attended Fort Walton Beach (Fla.) Choctawhatchee as a sophomore, but he has transferred to national prep powerhouse Montverde Academy.  Newell averaged 14 points and 8.7 rebounds as a sophomore. Newell is currently ranked No. 37 in…

C.J. Gunn ended his high school basketball career in style. Although he has already started working out with the team in Bloomington, the IU basketball freshman had one more prep obligation representing his home state in the annual Indiana All-Stars series against Kentucky. Gunn followed a 20-point game on Friday in Kentucky with a 21-point performance at Southport Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday.  He was the leading scorer for Indiana in both games and earned team team MVP honors. Five-star class of 2023 forward Xavier Booker plans to take an unofficial visit to Indiana next week, The Daily Hoosier can confirm.  Booker previously took a junior year official visit to IU in October and returned for a gameday visit in February. The news of the June visit was first reported by recruiting sites 247Sports and Rivals. The 6-foot-11 Booker has risen to No. 4 in the nation in the 2023 class according to 247Sports after a strong spring playing AAU basketball with George Hill All Indy.
