Indiana safety Bryson Bonds will miss the remainder of the 2025 season after suffering a knee injury on Saturday in the week one win over Old Dominion. Bonds was injured on kickoff coverage against the Monarchs. The longest-tenured safety on the roster, Bonds has been at Indiana since 2020. This was his final year of eligibility, but he should be eligible for a medical hardship waiver if he wants to return in 2026. Bonds has played in 48 career games and has 43 career tackles. The 2025 IU football season is here, and we are moving right along into week two. Coming off a season opening win over Old Dominion, Indiana hosts Kennesaw State this Saturday at Noon ET (FS1). After months of speculating about the 2025 IU football depth chart, we got answers on Saturday. Below we took a look at Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades, notes and snap counts from their week one contest vs. Old Dominion. On the whole, IU did not grade well at PFF.  The Hoosiers are just No. 61 overall through Saturday action.  They have the No. 58 offense and No. 65 defense. Indiana will be shorthanded at safety for its Saturday season opener in Bloomington. True freshman Byron Baldwin is listed as “out” on the Big Ten availability report published before the game. Indiana is no different than any other team throughout college football ahead of week one. The Hoosiers are deeper at some position groups than others.  No news there. The New York Jets picked up Cam Jones off the NFL’s waiver wire this week, resulting in a third of the franchise’s linebackers being former Hoosiers. The move reunited Jones with his former IU football teammate Marcelino McCrary-Ball, who was named a captain of the Jets this week. Jones and McCrary-Ball were together in Bloomington for four seasons (2018-2021), and that’s not all they have in common.  Both players have carved-out NFL careers despite being undrafted. Veteran offensive lineman Kahlil Benson will start at right tackle when IU football kicks off the 2025 season Saturday against Old Dominion. He’ll be joined on the starting unit up front by Carter Smith (left tackle), Drew Evans (left guard), Pat Coogan (center), and Bray Lynch (right guard). That’s all according to head coach Curt Cignetti on his radio show Thursday evening.
