Indiana has an early path to earn some votes in the national rankings, but after a 2-10 2021 season, not even head coach Tom Allen was willing to go there in the preseason USA TODAY Sports AFCA football coaches poll. To the surprise of no one, IU did not receive any votes in the preseason coaches poll, but several of their 2022 opponents did. The power of social media was moving faster than Indiana’s sideline. In his first ever college football game, IU freshman running back David Holloman didn’t expect to play much, and he certainly didn’t anticipate becoming the center of attention, much less part of a national news story before kickoff. As is always the case in August, rising senior prospects are narrowing their recruitments and announcing commitments. That means Indiana’s pool of 2023 targets is shrinking regularly.  On Monday it was highly-coveted forward T.J. Power who announced a list of his final five schools. Although IU prioritized Power heavily since offering him in April, he left the Hoosiers out of his final five.  Duke, Virginia, North Carolina, Boston College, and Iowa were instead the schools that made the cut for the Massachusetts product.  IU was widely expected to land an official visit from Power over the summer before his recruitment…

The college basketball season begins in three months, and with that preseason outlooks are starting to trickle in.
