The Hoosier Ticket Project has launched its first Giving Blitz, an online fundraising drive. The Giving Blitz is a nationwide 24-hour fundraising campaign to promote the project’s mission, share its impact on the community, and raise funds for the 2022-23 football and basketball seasons. Wednesday marked the first day of the final live recruiting period of the summer, and the IU basketball staff went “all in” at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C. Multiple reports indicated Indiana head coach Mike Woodson was at the event along with assistant coaches Kenya Hunter, Yasir Rosemond and Brian Walsh.  The Daily Hoosier was able to confirm those reports via sources. Indiana’s all-time assist leader is going to give it another go in Slovenia. Point guard Yogi Ferrell has re-signed with Cedevita Olimpija, a top Slovenian team he joined midseason in 2021. The 29-year-old Ferrell averaged 15.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists, over 15 EuroCup games last season. Ferrell arrived in Cedevita after a brief stint with Panathinaikos OPAP Athens where he started the 2021-22 season.  Last season was his first experience playing overseas. Watch as Indiana junior forward Jordan Geronimo met with the media on Tuesday afternoon via Zoom. Geronimo played in 34 games off the bench in 2021-22, missing just the Big Ten Tournament semifinal contest against Iowa after suffering an injury the day before. The New Jersey product averaged 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds while playing 12.6 minutes per contest. He tied for second on the team with 24 blocked shots. Each year Indiana chooses the players who will represent the program at the Big Ten’s media day in late July. This year two defenders and one offensive player will be the face of IU football along with head coach Tom Allen in Indianapolis on July 26. Indiana baseball righthander Jack Perkins was selected by the Oakland A’s in the fifth round of the MLB Draft on Monday afternoon. The 6-foot-1 Kokomo, Ind. product became the 11th pitcher in Indiana history to reach the 90-strikeout mark in 2022.  He appeared in 16 games with 15 starts on the mound and collected three wins on the 2022 season.  He was the No. 2 starter for first three starts then moved into Friday night role.
