Might Tayven Jackson follow in his brother’s footsteps at IU? The younger brother of Trayce Jackson-Davis, Jackson is in the transfer portal and planning to visit IU on Saturday, The Daily Hoosier can confirm. The former top-200 4-star prospect could provide an immediate boost to Indiana’s quarterback room going into spring practice if they can land him. The 6-foot-3 Jackson was Tennessee’s No. 3 quarterback in 2022 behind Hendon Hooker and Joe Milton before suffering a left shoulder injury in October. He was back practicing in December and should be fully available for spring practice wherever he lands. As of…

Indiana could have Race Thompson back in a few weeks, Jeff Goodman of Stadium is reporting. “Indiana big man Race Thompson has a sprained MCL,” Goodman said on Twitter, via a source. “The hope is that Thompson can return sometime in early to mid-February.” The Daily Hoosier inquired of IU Athletics on Friday after Goodman’s report, but they were unable to confirm a timetable for Thompson’s return. Indiana has only said that his return is indefinite. Thompson was injured last week in Iowa City when an Iowa player dove into his right knee and caused it to buckle. He was…
Indiana has been involved with Travis Perry for a long time, and on Thursday they extended a scholarship offer to the 6-foot-2 scoring phenom from Kentucky. Perry announced the IU offer on his Twitter page. https://twitter.com/Travis_Perry11/status/1613691886820098049?s=20&t=diZF01bZiBe-9cs59AtRzQ Indiana assistant coach Brian Walsh is leading the recruitment for Indiana. Perry visited IU last May, and his Lyon County (Ky.) team played at the IU team camp in June. While the Indiana staff didn’t offer right away, they’ve been watching him closely and have been in contact on an almost every day basis since the initial visits. Perry has enjoyed developing a relationship…
Penn State tied their program record on Wednesday evening with 18 made 3-pointers. And while the Nittany Lions shot 58 percent from three, they missed several wide open looks as well. Indiana’s inability to guard the perimeter and keep track of shooters was the clear difference in the game, as the Hoosiers lost their sixth contest in their last nine outings. Let’s take a look at some common themes in Indiana’s defensive breakdowns. DRIVES TO THE PAINT Penn State guard Jalen Pickett is exceptional at getting to the paint area and breaking down defenses either via scoring opportunities or kick-out…
The season appears to be in crisis mode now as Indiana already has four losses in the Big Ten just five games in. And the Hoosiers haven’t yet hit the meat of their league schedule. IU played reasonable well early, and held a 15-13 lead midway through the first half. But that lead was met with an 8-0 run, and from there the defense imploded. The Nittany Lions dropped 24 on IU over the last 10 minutes of the first half, and another 48 in the second half. Let’s take a deeper look at how the Hoosiers lost 85-66 with…

Quarterback continues to be the glaring position of need for Indiana as transfer season rolls on. Previously the Hoosiers appeared to have traction with Georgia Tech’s Jeff Sims and ULM’s Chandler Rodgers, but they’ve recently announced commitments to Nebraska and North Texas, respectively. Another name IU has been rumored to be targeting is Oregon State transfer Chance Nolan. A report by 247Sports national writer Chris Hummer suggests IU just might be the front runner for Nolan, who said the Hoosiers have been a “big part of his focus” when it comes to transfer destinations. Injuries shortened Nolan’s 2022 season with…
IU added another transfer defender on Wednesday morning via the portal. Former Austin Peay linebacker Joshua Rudolph announced his commitment to Indiana on his Twitter page. From Montgomery, Ala., the 5-foot-11 and 230-pound Rudolph saw action in 11 games during his 2022 sophomore season and produced 73 tackles including 7.5 for a loss for the Governors. As a freshman in 2021, Rudolph appeared in seven games and had 21 tackles during the campaign. He should have two years of eligibility remaining, plus a redshirt season. While in the portal, Rudolph also had offers from Appalachian State, Marshall, Alabama State, Troy,…
Things got out of hand at Iowa City last Thursday, and Indiana head coach Mike Woodson is trying to make sure it doesn’t happen again. With less than a minute remaining in the game, Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery came across midcourt and into the Indiana bench area as official Paul Szelc was having a discussion with IU assistant coach Yasir Rosemond. McCaffery’s presence resulted in multiple Iowa staff members coming over to the IU bench to pull him away, and then his son Connor came towards the IU bench area and had to pulled away by several of his…
