Indiana brought down the roof on Saturday night against Ohio State.  Or was that just part of the scoreboard?  Either way, the Hoosiers won their fifth straight game in front of a raucous crowd in Bloomington. BLOOMINGTON — Indiana defeated Ohio State on Saturday evening at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall by a final score of 86-70.  Indiana is on a five-game Big Ten winning streak for the first time since 2016. The Hoosiers (15-6, 6-4) were led in the game by Jalen Hood-Schifino with 24 points.  Trayce Jackson-Davis added 18 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.  Malik Reneau had 15 points and eight rebounds. Indiana will be shorthanded in the front court on Saturday evening vs. Ohio State. Junior forward Jordan Geronimo will not play after reaggravating a previous injury to his left leg, IU announced in a pre-game release.  Geronimo is at the game in street clothes, wearing a boot on his left foot. Geronimo is averaging a career high 5.6 points to go with 3.2 rebounds in 15.1 minutes per contest. Mike Woodson is not expected to miss any further games after contracting COVID. In a Friday afternoon release, IU Athletics said the second year head coach will be on the IU bench Saturday evening when the Hoosiers face Ohio State. “Coach Woodson is doing great,” the school said in the release.  “We are following CDC COVID guidelines, and our medical team expects him to be on the bench for tomorrow night’s game.” Assistant coach Yasir Rosemond filled in for Woodson on Wednesday when Indiana traveled to Minnesota.  IU won that game 61-57.  While Rosemond had the most visible role, the…

Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis became the program’s all-time block leader on Wednesday evening in Minneapolis. So it’s only fitting that his shot-blocking prowess became a central theme in the game. The 6-foot-9 senior swatted four Golden Gopher attempts in the last five minutes, and he had six total blocks for the game — the second highest total for his career at IU. It was the great escape from frigid Minnesota.  Indiana won its fourth game in a row on Wednesday evening in Minneapolis, but you won’t find this one hanging in the Louvre any time soon. With last place Minnesota dictating the tempo on both ends, neither team led by more than seven points the entire game.  The Gophers led 24-18 in the first half, only to see IU rally for a 33-30 halftime edge.  The Hoosiers pulled out to a 47-40 second half lead, but Minnesota came back and led 57-54 with 3:20 left.  That’s when the Hoosiers closed the game…

Trayce Jackson-Davis now has the most recorded blocked shots in IU basketball history. The 6-foot-9 senior blocked a drive to the basket by Minnesota’s Jamison Battle with 1:24 left in the first half on Wednesday evening in Minneapolis to give him the all-time lead. The block was Jackson-Davis’ 228th of his career.  He came into the game tied for the lead and passed Jeff Newton, whose 227 blocks stood atop the IU record books since 2003.
