They’ve established tracks from Florida to Bloomington, now Indiana hopes to keep the Montverde train rolling. After landing Jalen Hood-Schifino and Malik Reneau in the class of 2022 from the national prep school powerhouse, the IU staff has set its sights on a pair of prospects in the class of 2024. And one of them could end up in the class of 2023. According to multiple reports, 5-star class of 2024 forward Derik Queen will officially visit Indiana on the weekend of Sept. 24-26. Of note, that’s the same weekend his class of 2024 Montverde teammate and fellow 5-star Liam…

Indiana continues to make it abundantly clear — irrespective of class, 2025 point guard Jalen Haralson is a top priority. Mike Woodson and all three of his assistants — Kenya Hunter, Yasir Rosemond and Brian Walsh — were at a 6:30 a.m. workout for Haralson on Friday, the first day coaches were allowed to hit the road and watch prospects during the fall recruiting period. Fishers head coach Garrett Winegar confirmed that plan to The Daily Hoosier yesterday. The fall period is unique because, unlike the spring and summer when several prospects are playing in the same event, college staffs…
We now have the complete picture for the 2022-23 IU basketball season. On Thursday the Big Ten Network revealed portions of the conference schedule live on the air at Noon Eastern. During the broadcast, former Purdue star and BTN personality Robbie Hummel named the Hoosiers as his preseason favorite. “When you’re talking about the best teams in the Big Ten this year, you have to start with the Indiana Hoosiers,” Hummel said. IU Athletics then released the full schedule at the conclusion of the BTN segment. The non-conference schedule was published earlier in the summer and features matchups at Xavier,…
Tom Allen was asked repeatedly during the offseason who was going to step into the void left by Micah McFadden as the heart-and-soul of his team’s defense. At 3 a.m. early Saturday morning, just hours removed from his team’s season opening win over Illinois, Allen sent a text to the player who arose as the unequivocal answer. But hours before that, Allen was on the field, staring down at the same player, senior linebacker Cam Jones, who was in considerable pain at the Indiana 30-yard line after his teammate, tackle Demarcus Elliot, inadvertently crashed into the back of his legs.…
Indiana women’s basketball announced its complete 2022-23 schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The Hoosiers non-conference slate is highlighted by seven home games including its ACC/Big Ten challenge matchup against North Carolina on Dec. 1. The season officially begins on November 8 when the team hosts Vermont. Indiana hits the road on Nov. 14 when they travel to Thompson-Boling Arena to face traditional power Tennessee. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Indiana will play in the inaugural Las Vegas Invitational where it meets Auburn (Nov. 25) and Memphis (Nov. 26). Big Ten action begins on Dec. 4 when IU welcomes Illinois to Bloomington before…
It was top secret a week ago, but after so much was revealed against Illinois, Indiana has now published a depth chart heading into week two. There are no major surprises, but we thought it was worth sharing since this was the first comprehensive look we’ve had at the two and in some cases three-deep since the beginning of fall camp. This latest version does illustrate what Tom Allen told us on Monday — that starting right offensive tackle Matthew Bedford was lost for the season and Parker Hanna is regarded as the starter now at that spot. Interestingly, redshirt…
Sept. 9 is the first day college coaches can go off campus and visit recruiting targets, and we expect IU to pay a visit to class of 2023 forward Arrinten Page right away. According to sources, head coach Mike Woodson is going to visit Page on Friday. Page took an official visit to IU in July, and he also took official visits to Missouri, Cincinnati, USC and Miami (Fla.) during his junior year. While multiple reports have suggested Page’s recruitment is a five team race involving the schools he visited, things may be a bit more focused on IU, Miami…
A year ago Indiana had 32 players miss at least one game with an injury. On Friday night against Illinois, it looked like the Hoosiers might hit that number in week one. Down they went as the game progressed, and it wasn’t just any players. Several of IU’s veteran stars and leaders had concerning moments on the field during an especially physical contest. The start of the game could not have been any more inauspicious. Starting running back Shaun Shivers was blasted on IU’s first offensive play of the season. He dropped to the field and missed time before returning.…
Indiana received devastating injury news over the weekend to an already suspect offensive line. Starting offensive tackle Matthew Bedford is out for the season, head coach Tom Allen announced on Monday at a press conference. The Cordova, Tenn. product was injured in the first half of IU’s Friday night season opening win against Illinois. “I feel for him and he’s an amazing young man,” Allen said. “He has got an unbelievable attitude about it. And in talking with him, he’s going to have a great recovery and come back and play his final season a year from now.” Bedford has…
IU first introduced alcohol at football games in 2019, and the success of that pilot program has led to continuous expansion at sporting events since. The suds continue to flow inside Memorial Stadium this year, along with soccer games at Bill Armstrong Stadium, and baseball and softball games on campus as well. But when alcohol was first served in 2019, then Director of Athletics Fred Glass said he wasn’t sure if introducing a little extra juice to the up close and intense environment inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall made sense. “The way passions run in there with the intimacy of…
