PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Indiana lost to Rutgers on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 63-48 at Jersey Mike’s Arena. The Hoosiers (7-1) trailed 31-24 at halftime and were led in the game by Miller Kopp with 21 points. Indiana will next host Nebraska on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern (BTN). It was a bit startling to hear Trayce Jackson-Davis say those words on Wednesday evening just after Indiana’s 77-65 win over North Carolina. From an IU basketball standpoint, Rutgers was a welcome addition to the Big Ten when they joined in 2014.  The Hoosiers were in between two outright Big Ten titles in four years, and the Scarlet Knights hadn’t made the NCAA Tournament since 1991. When it comes to bringing high end recruiting talent on campus — IU basketball has been on a roll of late.  The Hoosiers had eight prospects on campus for their win over North Carolina, and they followed several elite prospects over the last few months. Indiana made a statement on Wednesday night in Bloomington against No. 18 North Carolina.  Now with impressive high major wins both at home and on the road, it’s reasonable to say this IU squad is the real deal heading into Big Ten play. The Hoosiers led 35-29 at halftime, and were led in the game by Trayce Jackson-Davis with 21 points and nine rebounds.  Xavier Johnson added 20 points and eight rebounds.  Both had four assists. The IU football program provided an update Wednesday on the injury suffered by quarterback Dexter Williams II over the weekend. Running to his left in the first quarter Saturday in the Old Oaken Bucket game, Williams planted on his right leg and it appeared to give out.  He suffered a major knee injury. “Redshirt sophomore quarterback Dexter Williams II suffered a knee dislocation with significant structural damage to his knee in the 2022 season finale against Purdue,” IU said in their social media statement.  “Williams is scheduled to undergo surgery next week and will be further evaluated at that time.”…
