North Carolina is expected to hire Indiana’s Jason Jones as cornerbacks coach, Matt Zenitz of On3 is reporting. Indiana hired Jones away from Florida Atlantic following the 2019 season, and he served as the program’s safeties coach for each of the last three seasons. Jamar Johnson was selected in the NFL Draft in 2021 after playing a year under Jones. At UNC, Jones will be reunited with Tar Heels’ defensive coordinator Charlton Warren, who served for one season (2021) as defensive coordinator at IU under Tom Allen. With win No. 189, Indiana’s Teri Moren became the all-time winningest coach in program history on Wednesday evening when the Hoosiers defeated No. 21 Illinois 83-72 in Champaign. Indiana quietly lost senior director of recruiting Lee Wilbanks during the offseason. He’s now with Mississippi State according to his Twitter bio. According to reports on Tuesday, they’ve found a replacement from the SEC. As first reported by Matt Zenitz of On3, IU will hire former Auburn director of player personnel Steven Ruzic as its “general manager.” Indiana confirmed the report on Wednesday evening and listed Ruzic as an Assistant AD for Recruiting.
