Former IU running back Sampson James is making a return to Bloomington. James made an Instagram post on Sunday evening with a photo of him wearing an IU uniform and helmet.  He simply said “committed” in the post. Indiana made another offer in the 2025 class on Tuesday. Chicago based sophomore Aleks Alston announced an offer from the Hoosiers on his social media accounts after a conversation with the coaching staff. The 6-foot-9 Alston is best known as a perimeter shooter, an attribute IU has been placing a heavy emphasis on during the first live recruiting period. A lefty, Alston attends Kenwood Academy H.S. in Chicago, Ill. The wave of IU basketball offers continues following the first live recruiting period of 2023. Indiana has offered class of 2024 wing Annor Boateng from Arkansas. Boateng announced the IU offer on his social media accounts on Monday evening. The Little Rock product was the Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year following the 2022-23 season. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound junior forward averaged 15.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game this past season, leading the Little Rock Central H.S. to a 24-7 record and the quarterfinals of the 6A state tournament. Mike Woodson’s lengthy career as an NBA coach has led to early involvement with a fast-rising 2025 prospect. On Monday, Jacob Wilkins, son of NBA great Dominique Wilkins, announced an offer from IU on his social media pages. The Lilburn, Ga. product attends Parkview H.S. in the Atlanta area, where he averaged around 19 points and five rebounds as a sophomore. A long-time star for the Atlanta Hawks, Dominique took a front office job with the franchise in 2004, the same year Mike Woodson was hired as the head coach.  They worked together in Atlanta until 2010.  Dominique still works…

Indiana continues to focus on productive wings coming out of the first recruiting live period. The Hoosiers have now offered three players over the weekend, and all three had highly efficient offensive performances at the Nike EYBL event in Georgia. The latest to get an offer from IU is Miami, Fla. based 2024 small forward Marcus Allen. Allen reported the offer on his Instagram page. It shouldn’t be a surprise — Indiana is in for a heavyweight fight when it comes to landing class of 2024 5-star forward Liam McNeeley. The Hoosiers have been long considered one of McNeeley’s top suitors, but it was only a matter of time before the competition stiffened for the Texas-based product who attends Montverde Academy in Florida. A theme is emerging after the first live recruiting period of 2023. Indiana is expanding its list of class of 2024 targets and going after the top shooters. On Monday, 2024 point guard Curtis Givens III announced he’s received an offer from IU, and that was no doubt driven in large part by a highly productive weekend at the Nike EYBL in Emerson, Ga. Givens averaged 18.8 points, 4.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds in four EYBL games over the weekend playing for the MoKan Elite program.  Givens made 11-of-27 from three (40.7 percent), and he only turned the ball over…

Most Indiana fans have probably seen the video by now of former IU star Victor Oladipo’s left knee giving out on Saturday evening during an NBA Playoff game in Miami. It looked bad, and the news coming out on Sunday suggests the worst for Oladipo. “Miami Heat guard Victor Oladipo has suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon in his left knee,” Shams Charania of the Athletic is reporting. The first live recruiting period of 2023 brought a new offer from the IU basketball staff. Class of 2024 shooting guard Austin Swartz reported an offer from Indiana on Saturday evening on his Twitter page. The North Carolina based product had a standout weekend that caught Indiana’s eye. Swartz averaged 24.3 points on 50 percent shooting from three in three Nike EYBL games on Friday and Saturday.  He made 12-of-24 from long range during those contests.
