NC State men’s basketball head coach Kevin Keatts announced Tuesday via release that former IU basketball player and assistant coach Mike Roberts has joined his staff as an assistant coach. Roberts comes to NC State after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Cincinnati. In January, the NCAA Division I Board of Directors voted to allow two more assistant coaches on men’s basketball staffs. These additional coaches can engage in coaching activities but may not recruit off campus. What a difference a year makes. In late July of 2022, IU basketball had two commits in the rising senior class, and all of their major targets had for the most part wrapped up their official visits. IU Baseball Director of  Player Development Scott Rolen was officially inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday afternoon in Cooperstown, N.Y. The Jasper, Ind. product is regarded as one of the greatest defensive third basemen of all-time. Rolen played in the big leagues from 1996-2012 with stints in four organizations. “At no point in my lifetime did it ever occurred to me that I’d be standing on this stage,” Rolen said in his speech on Sunday afternoon. “But I’m glad it occurred to you, because this is unbelievably special.” Rolen won National League Rookie of the Year…

Indiana is in the mix for one of the top class of 2025 wings. Florida-based small forward Jamier Jones announced an offer from Indiana on his Twitter page on Sunday evening. The 6-foot-6, and 200-pound Jones attends Oak Ridge H.S. in Sarasota, Fla.  He transferred back to that school from IMG Academy, also in Florida.  For AAU basketball, Jones plays for the 16u Florida Rebels on the Nike EYBL Circuit. During the 2021-2022 season, he averaged 20.1 points per game and added 5.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.6 blocks in 26 games played.  He dealt with some injuries…

Indiana opens fall camp in early August, and it should be one of the more spirited lead-ups to a season in recent history. Class of 2024 wing Annor Boateng named his top eight schools on Saturday afternoon. Along with Indiana, Boateng is considering Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia Tech, LSU, Missouri, Ohio State, and Virginia Tech.  He announced the schools on his Twitter page: https://twitter.com/annor2024/status/1682801676510437376?s=20 According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Boateng is the No. 25 player overall in the 2024 class. He’s the No. 10 small forward according to that outlet. Mackenzie Holmes has made the long trek home many times since joining IU women’s basketball in 2019. The entire program will join her on that journey in November. For the second time in the last couple weeks, Memphis, Tenn. based point guard Curtis Givens III has told reporters Indiana wants to get him on campus this summer or fall for a senior year official visit.  So we thought we’d take a closer look, and share a few things Givens told The Daily Hoosier about Indiana as well.
