One of Indiana’s main point guard targets in the class of 2025 is Mikel Brown. Originally from Orlando, Brown is ranked the No. 14 player nationally in the class of 2025 according to the On3 Industry Average.  He’s the No. 2 point guard in the class according to that service. Jerome Hunter’s final season of college basketball is starting much like his first. The Xavier forward is out indefinitely with an undisclosed medical issue, the school announced Tuesday. Hunter joined IU basketball with the class of 2018 and spent his first three years in Bloomington.  He ended up taking a redshirt season as a freshman when an undisclosed medical issue ended his 2018-19 season just before it started. Former IU basketball stars Jalen Hood-Schifino and Trayce Jackson-Davis have landed lucrative contracts after being drafted in the NBA last month. Chosen No. 17 overall in the first round by Los Angeles, Hood-Schifino should be set for life. According to Spotrac, the one-and-done star signed a 4 year / $17,882,808 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, including $17,882,808 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $4,470,702. Indiana made the first list cut of fast rising 2024 big man Patrick Ngongba. The 4-star, 6-foot-10 center is down to IU, Kansas State, UConn, Providence, Kansas, Duke, Kentucky and Michigan, he announced. Indiana offered Ngongba in early May following the early spring live recruiting periods. The next step will be to get Ngongba on campus for an official visits.  He said a few weeks ago IU was one of the schools he was considering for one of his five senior year visits. Trayce Jackson-Davis already has a four-year contract with two years guaranteed, and he’s expected to be on the Warriors 15-man roster when the NBA season starts in October. But he could still benefit from getting some live experience this summer. After missing multiple NBA Summer League games, the expectation is Jackson-Davis will make his debut this week. Former Indiana forward Race Thompson’s next basketball move is uncertain. The Minnesota native signed a summer deal with the New York Knicks, and he was supposed to play for the franchise this week in Las Vegas. But according to multiple reports, Thompson is dealing with right knee soreness and he’ll miss the Knicks summer league action from July 8-14. Thompson also injured his right knee in January and missed four games. Indiana offered class of 2024 wing Annor Boateng in April and they’ve been in regular contact since. The 6-foot-5 Boateng is ranked No. 25 nationally in the rising senior class according to the On3 Consensus.  The big, strong, physical wing has turned into a good perimeter shooter, and that complements his high end ability to play through contact, finish at the rim, facilitate and defend.
