We can start with some quick housekeeping in the class of 2024. Indiana offered rising senior wing Marcus Allen in April, but that never seemed to gain serious traction.  The Miami, Fla. product was an AAU teammate of priority IU 2024 target Liam McNeeley over the summer. On Wednesday multiple outlets reported Allen will announce a college decision on Aug. 7.  Indiana could still see him in the Big Ten.  His finalists are Arkansas, Miami, Missouri, Michigan, Ohio State and Stanford. Class of 2024 wing Tyler Betsey named his top-seven schools on Wednesday. The top-40 Connecticut product will choose between Indiana, Duke, UConn, Alabama, Cincinnati, Creighton and Villanova. Betsey spoke at length with Rivals’ national analyst Rob Cassidy, and he said his June visit to IU was the best one he has taken thus far. “The visit was great. One 2024 domino is set to fall on Sept. 14. Class of 2024 4-star guard Jaeden Mustaf will announce his college decision on that date, he told Joe Tipton of On3. Since narrowing his recruitment in the spring, Mustaf has been focusing on Indiana, Maryland, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Arkansas and N.C. State.  He’s visited four of those programs and is scheduled to visit his father’s alma mater Maryland in early September. IU football junior punter James Evans was selected for the Ray Guy Award preseason watch list, the Augusta Sports Council announced on Wednesday. The New Zealand product currently holds the program’s all-time punting average mark at 43.1 yards after he finished No. 2 on the single-season punt average charts (44.3) in 2022, tied with Jim DiGullio (1992). He finished 2022 ranked No. 2 in punting average (44.3) and No. 3 in total punts (75) in a season, tied with Tyson Beattie (2005). Mike Woodson pulled off a recruiting coup when he landed Mackenzie Mgbako in May. Listed at 6-foot-8 and 215 pounds by Indiana, Mgbako is the highest rated recruit IU basketball has landed since Romeo Langford.  He decommitted from Duke in April, and one month later he was a Hoosier. A 2023 McDonald’s All-American, Mgbako arrived at IU this summer as a 5-star recruit, ranked No. 8 on Rivals, No. 9 on ESPN, and No. 10 on 247Sports. The IU basketball staff is hosting a coaches clinic for the first time under Mike Woodson. The two day event will be held Sept. 29-30 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington and will afford the opportunity for the IU coaches and support team to build relationships with a network of coaches while sharing their deep collective insights. Indiana has offered class of 2025 wing Amari Allen, he announced on his Twitter page on Monday evening. IU also offered his AAU teammate Kai Rogers on Monday.  The duo play for the Wisconsin Playground on the UAA Circuit. The 6-foot-7 and 200-pound Allen is from Wisconsin, and he enrolled at IMG Academy in Florida a year ago.  As most sophomores do on national teams like IMG, Allen had more of a reserve role in 2022-23.  IU has pursued a number of IMG products since Mike Woodson took over, including Tamar Bates and Bryson Tucker.  Allen was teammates at IMG…

Indiana has offered class of 2025 center Kai Rogers, he announced on his Instagram page on Monday evening. The 6-foot-10 Rogers is a player who has been on the IU radar going back at least to the early part of the spring.  He attends Wauwatosa West H.S. (Wauwatosa, Wis.). For travel basketball Rogers plays for Wisconsin Playground on the UAA Circuit where he averaged 13.3 points on 63 percent shooting, and added 7.9 rebounds and 2.0 blocks. Thanks to a major donation, IU football is on track to catch up competitively from a facilities standpoint, at least in one regard. The program currently shares its weight room at Memorial Stadium with other sports throughout IU Athletics, creating scheduling challenges, and competitive disadvantages in recruiting.  This development is the first in what could be multiple major steps forward when it comes to football facilities.  The program is also well behind when it comes to the quality of its indoor practice space, something head coach Tom Allen acknowledged at Big Ten Media Days last week.
