Basketball season has tipped for former Hoosiers across the globe. Below we take a look at the former IU basketball players who are still competing professionally, either in the NBA’s G League or overseas. NBA G-League Romeo Langford: The IU one-and-done star signed with the Utah Jazz during the offseason and is currently with their G League affiliate the Salt Lake City Stars. Still just 24 years old, Langford has shot the ball well through three games. He’s averaging 9.7 points and 3.0 rebounds through three games while shooting 62.5 percent overall (on 15 shots) and 83.3 percent from three…

Yarden Garzon’s second quarter was so good she even broke into a smile while spending her 20th birthday at the 2023 Elevance Health Women’s Fort Myers Tip-Off. The 6-foot-3 sophomore guard scored 11 of her career-high 23 points in the second stanza including three of her five 3-pointers as Indiana cruised to a 71-57 win against No. 19 Tennessee in Fort Myers, Fla. The normally stoic Garzon couldn’t fight back a grin just before halftime as her teammates cheered her on after a third straight make from several feet beyond the 3-point arc. With Garzon leading the way, IU outscored…
As Indiana prepared to face Michigan State, Tom Allen and Mark Dantonio stood on the field and talked about the good ole’ days. You know, three years ago. As we outlined last week, much has changed across the college football landscape since IU’s highly successful two year run in 2019 and 2020. It’s Allen’s new reality that is seemingly always top of mind, so much so that he brings it up almost involuntarily. It happened again earlier this week. Allen was asked about remaining positive about the direction of the program, and after saying the things you’d expect — he…
Indiana escaped from New York with a 1-1 record and avoided sending the fan base into a Thanksgiving panic. Now that we’ve gotten to know this 2023-24 edition of IU basketball, it should come as no surprise that there were plenty of good moments, and plenty of bad. Let’s take a deeper look at how the Hoosiers performed inside Madison Square Garden during their two games at the Empire Classic. Indiana (4-1) will next play Harvard at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET. OFFENSE (C) While it isn’t particularly surprising, by far the most concerning thing…
Mike Woodson is clearly growing tired of the “what’s wrong with Mgbako” questions. His prized freshman recruit has started the first five games of his college career, but he hasn’t done much finishing to this point. Defensive miscues have been an issue throughout the early days of Mgbako’s college career, but early foul trouble doomed his afternoon against Louisville on Monday in New York. The former consensus 5-star, top-10 recruiting prospect played just nine minutes and scored four points against the Cardinals in a 74-66 Indiana win. Mgbako picked up two fouls less than two minutes into the game against…

For Mike Woodson and the IU players postgame, GO HERE. Indiana (4-1) will play Harvard in Indianapolis on Sunday. THREE KEYS TO THE GAME 1. Reneau stays in the game – Malik Reneau couldn’t stop fouling early in the game, but Louisville couldn’t…

Below are the key details for the 21st all-time meeting between the Hoosiers and Cardinals. Further below we take a final look back at the loss to UConn with an abbreviated edition of The Report Card. Indiana is following a familiar November script. The Hoosiers defeated No. 10 seed Wake Forest 3-2 in two overtimes Sunday evening to advance to the round of 16 in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. IU fell behind twice, but twice had an answer for Demon Deacon goals. But there would be no Wake Forest equalizer after an Indiana goal in the first overtime. Wake Forest took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but a header by Indiana’s Hugo Bacharach in the 54th minute tied the match at one. 54′ | HUGO HEADS US LEVEL!@HBacharach | #IUMS pic.twitter.com/XQLaIvcgQJ — Indiana Men’s Soccer (@IndianaMSOC)…
Defending national champion head coach Dan Hurley had a few days to focus on Indiana, and he saw enough post touches by their big men through their first three games to know that’s where he had to focus his gameplan to stop the Hoosiers. What’s his read on what IU is all about right now? “Just paint, paint, paint for them,” Hurley said after a 77-57 win over the Hoosiers. Including IU’s 3-of-13 effort from long range on Sunday, Indiana is just 14-of-53 from deep on the season. Closing out on the arc wasn’t a major concern for Hurley coming…
Teri Moren has been looking for improvement on the defensive end, and she got it on Sunday afternoon in Bloomington. Indiana held Lipscomb to 30.9 percent shooting and forced 16 turnovers in a dominant 77-44 win at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. “We were a little bit better tonight defensively from our group,” Moren said. “The defensive goal, because I’ll probably be asked was to keep them under 60, so we were able to do that.” Moren particularly liked the defensive play of her second-year guard. “Lexus Bargesser was terrific on the defensive side of the ball. She was really locked.”…
