Class of 2024 wing Caleb Williams announced on Thursday he has narrowed his recruitment. Williams will choose from Villanova, Michigan, Indiana, Syracuse, Georgetown, Virginia and Miami (Fla.). The 6-foot-7 Williams took multiple visits to IU over the last year.  A 3-star prospect, he ranks as the No. 117 overall player in the 2024 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking. IU Athletics has announced the date for its annual kickoff event for the men’s and women’s basketball programs. Hoosier Hysteria will take place on Friday, Oct. 20 this year. That’s obviously a date fairly late on the calendar relative to the start of the season, which comes just a couple weeks later in early November.  Hoosier Hysteria has generally taken place in early October in recent years. Coming into the week, IU football had no in-state commits in the 2024 class. They’ve added three over the last 24 hours. Carmel, Ind. (Carmel H.S.) cornerback Christian Peterson announced on Tuesday he has committed to IU, joining a pair of Indiana based offensive linemen who announced commitments earlier in the day. “I am blessed to announce I will be continuing my academic and football career at Indiana University,” Peterson wrote in an attachment to a Twitter post. Indiana landed their second in-state offensive lineman in the class of 2024 on Tuesday. Speedway H.S. interior offensive lineman Adedamola (Damola) Ajani announced he has committed to play for IU. “I found my HOME!!  100% committed,” Ajani wrote in a Twitter post. Ajani is a 3-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite, the No. 780 overall player, and the No. 50 interior offensive lineman. Indiana has added in-state offensive lineman Evan Lawrence to its recruiting class of 2024. Indiana has offered class of 2025 forward Preston Copeland. The North Carolina product announced the offer on his Twitter page on Sunday evening.  He was in Indiana over the weekend for the Crossroads Elite camp. The 6-foot-8 Copeland attends Raleigh Christian H.S. in Raleigh, N.C. Copeland is the brother of former Nebraska player Isaac Copeland, who averaged 12.9 points per game in 2017-18 and 14 points per game in 2018-19 for the Huskers. According to multiple reports, class of 2023 in-state guard Joey Hart will visit Indiana early this week. The 6-foot-5 Hart decommitted from Central Florida in May and is in the process of looking for a new home in relatively short order.  Most of Indiana’s freshmen in the class of 2023 have already arrived on campus in Bloomington. Hart chose UCF over Toledo, Evansville and Ball State, and then subsequently raised his profile with a strong senior season.
