Indiana and Louisville will meet at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sept. 16.  That much we know for sure. But beyond that, it is looking more and more likely that the two additional games between the Hoosiers and Cardinals currently on the schedule for 2024 and 2025 will not happen. WDRB’s Rick Bozich is reporting the 2025 game scheduled to be played in Bloomington has been canceled.  The Daily Hoosier has learned that isn’t the case just yet, but the schools are working towards a resolution to that end.  The game still appears on Indiana’s official website. Bozich has been reporting…

It’s been more than four months since the college basketball season ended, and we’re still three months from the start of the 2023-24 campaign. So it’s officially hot take season for outlets that focus primarily on the sport.  Or plug the gap with creative content season, if you prefer. Enter the Field of 68, a relatively new and popular outlet launched by well known national college basketball media personalities Jeff Goodman and Rob Dauster. The Field of 68 is currently grading the offseason roster makeovers of major programs around the country.  That seems like a worthwhile endeavor here in 2023,…

There’s been some fun offseason looks at IU basketball players on Twitter this week.  Or is it now called X?  We’re not really sure anymore. But whatever the name of the platform, there’s been some good content this week involving what we believe could end up being one of the better frontcourts in college basketball this season. Sophomore forward Malik Reneau was one of the rare high school recruits who arrived on campus already right around his target weight.  For the Miami, Fla. product, the mission has been to refine his body composition rather than put on more pounds. Reneau…

With two dozen additions via the transfer portal, it’s easy to lose sight of just who Indiana really has coming in ready to play in 2023. If IU had landed E.J. Williams out of high school, he would have been heralded as the second-highest rated recruit of the rankings era in program history.  The Phenix City, Ala. product was a national top-100 talent, the kind of player IU doesn’t get unless their name is McCullough and they are the son of a coach. Of course Indiana didn’t land Williams out of high school.  The kind of program that lands players…

Last week IU offensive line coach Bob Bostad said he was lacking depth in his position group. He has filled at least some of the void with a familiar face. The program announced Drew Evans has joined the team.  Evans was on Wisconsin in 2022 under Bostad but he did not see the field as a freshman. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, Evans was a preferred walk-on at Wisconsin but he’ll be on scholarship at IU.  Evans was a three sport athlete who played both guard and tackle at Fort Atkinson High School in Fort Atkinson, Wis. Evans was…

IU center Kel’el Ware is back in Oregon. But don’t worry, he hasn’t transferred back to the Ducks. The 7-foot Ware is attending the Nike Skills Academy Aug. 7-12 in Portland.  The prestigious event is being held during a time when the IU basketball team is taking a break from organized team activities. The Nike Skills Academy will provide Ware the opportunity to train alongside some of the best past and present NBA players and coaches. The skills development camp features some of the nation’s top collegiate players, which includes a combine experience, drills, off-court workouts, film sessions and competition.…

We’re getting into the homestretch for the class of 2024 recruiting targets who will commit to a college by the November early signing period.  And most will likely sign early to get out in front of the spring transfer portal wave. That’s just three months at most for prospects to take any final visits, make a decision and sign. We currently have 13 class of 2024 players listed in IU’s “main group,” and that’s obviously far more than the Hoosiers could take in what projects to be a class size of around four.  And with IU recruiting almost exclusively in…

The Big Ten East is ending much like it started, with the three usual suspects in the top-10 looking down on the rest of the pack. The preseason college football coaches poll was released on Monday, and defending Big Ten champion Michigan is No. 2 to open the 2023 campaign, while Ohio State comes in at No. 4, and Penn State is No. 7.  For what should be the last time in at least the couple years, Indiana plays all three of the league’s top-10 squads this fall. IU coach Tom Allen is listed as one of the voters. Also…

IU basketball coach Mike Woodson will speak at the New York Basketball Coaches Clinic on Sept. 13 at Stepinac H.S. in White Plains, N.Y. That just happens to be the high school that IU class of 2024 priority point guard target Boogie Fland attends. And the date just happens to fall during an NCAA authorized recruiting period when coaches can make in-person contact with prospects. So the stop at Stepinac is more than just the former head coach of the New York Knicks speaking to New York area basketball coach.  It will also afford the chance for Woodson to visit…

Former IU basketball forward Miller Kopp will continue his basketball journey overseas. In an announcement on Instagram, Kopp says he has signed with Limoges CSP in France.  He also posted a picture of himself traveling to France on his Instagram story on Sunday. Based in Limoges, France, the program is part of the top tier of professional basketball in that country. Kopp was the only Hoosier to start all 35 games in 2022-23.  He started all 70 games in his two-year IU career after transferring in from Northwestern.  The Houston, Texas native averaged 8.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists,…
