Indiana has offered class of 2025 combo guard Darius Adams.  Andrew Slater announced the IU offer to the New Jersey product on Twitter. Adams will team this season with long-time in-state IU guard target Jalen Haralson at prep power La Lumiere in LaPorte, Ind. In two seasons at Manasquan H.S. (Manasquan, N.J.),  Adams scored 1,097 points. This past season, he averaged 20.4, 7.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.4 steals while earning the Shore Sports Network Player of the Year Award and Third-Team All-State honors from NJ Advance Media. In 2014 Yogi Ferrell and Noah Vonleh were both all-Big Ten performers in Bloomington. A decade later, the pair will be reunited in of all places, China. Both Ferrell and Vonleh will play the 2023-24 season for the Shanghai Sharks, the Chinese club has announced. The 6-foot Ferrell won a pair of Big Ten titles (2013, 2016) at IU in connection with his freshman and senior seasons. He is Indiana’s all-time assist leader and first in three-pointers made in Big Ten games. Ferrell played in more games (137) at IU than anyone else. Ferrell went undrafted in 2016 but spent…

IU basketball freshman Jakai Newton’s college basketball career has hit a snag before it started. The guard suffered a knee injury more than a year ago and has dealt with some twists and turns since. On Wednesday the IU basketball program said in a release Newton had a procedure related to the original injury. “Indiana freshman guard Jakai Newton underwent a procedure to treat a pre-existing injury today. Their battles on the hardwood were fierce, but their friendship has proven to be much stronger. For 20 years, Purdue’s Gene Keady and IU’s Bob Knight led opposing teams in the top basketball rivalry in basketball crazed Indiana. While many IU fans grew to dislike Keady’s legendary combover, jacket-throwing tirades and the physical style his teams played with — there was no such vitriol when it came to Keady and Knight away from game. Class of 2025 in-state 5-star guard Jalen Haralson will take another visit to Indiana. Haralson will visit Bloomington on Sept. 2 when IU football opens the 2023 season against Ohio State, according to Jake Weingarten of StockRisers. The 6-foot-6 Haralson played for Fishers H.S. in the northeast Indianapolis suburbs the last two seasons, but he recently announced a transfer to prep powerhouse La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.) for his junior season. Race Thompson signed an NBA Summer League contract with the New York Knicks in June. But the six-year IU basketball power forward never made an appearance, leaving fans wondering what happened. Greenfield, Ind. guard Braylon Mullins has a lot of momentum building in his recruitment, and that includes with Indiana. The 6-foot-5 Mullins, who was one of the top shooters on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit this summer, has two scheduled visits to IU over the next two months. For the second year in a row, IU basketball will face the defending national champion. The Empire Classic announced on Monday Indiana will face UConn on Nov. 19 in New York.  That’s the first of two games in two days at Madison Square Garden. The Hoosiers will face either Louisville or Texas in the second contest on Monday, Nov. 20. The ongoing scandal at Northwestern that brought about the firing of football coach Pat Fitzgerald this summer brought back memories of 2016 in Bloomington. Fitzgerald was fired after an investigation into hazing within his program.  And seven years ago, then IU football coach Kevin Wilson was operating under a cloud of alleged player mistreatment that led then Athletic Director Fred Glass to cut the coach loose after six seasons. Indiana held a closed scrimmage on Saturday at Memorial Stadium, and it coincided with the Big Ten Network’s annual stop at fall camp in Bloomington.
