As previously reported, IU basketball coach Mike Woodson is in New York this week to speak at the New York Basketball Coaches Clinic Wednesday at Stepinac H.S. in White Plains. Before that appearance tomorrow, Woodson will conduct an in-home visit with class of 2024 5-star point guard Boogie Fland tonight.  That’s according to multiple reports. Indiana has offered class of 2025 wing Jordan Scott. The 6-foot-6 Scott announced the offer on his Instagram page after IU assistant coach Kenya Hunter visited him today. “Thank you Coach Hunter for coming out to see me, and thank you Indiana for the official offer,” Scott wrote. Scott is a 4-star prospect in the 2025 class.  According to the On3 Industry Average, he’s the No. 63 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 22 shooting guard. IU basketball’s recruiting weekend received a lot of national attention, but the staff still has more work to do to secure commitments in the class of 2024. Indiana rolled out the red carpet for Montverde Academy senior teammates Liam McNeeley, Derik Queen and Curtis Givens, and by all accounts the visits were a success. But all three have additional visits planned. Redshirt freshman Tayven Jackson is Indiana’s starting quarterback. IU coach Tom Allen made the announcement at a Monday morning press conference in Bloomington. Allen cited Jackson’s poise and ability to lead scoring drives as the main deciding factors for him winning the competition against fellow redshirt freshman Brendan Sorsby. “At the end of the day that’s what it really comes down to is being able to score points,” Allen said on Monday. There was never much doubt Indiana was going to enter week three 1-1. And there isn’t much doubt about what’s going to happen down the line when the Hoosiers host Akron, and travel to Michigan and Penn State. But it’s those other seven games, beginning this week, that will determine whether IU can return to a bowl game for the first time since 2020. And Indiana fans are nearly unanimous in their belief that Tayven Jackson should line up behind center when the Hoosiers face Louisville on Saturday. A Nigerian flag made waves during freshman forward Mackenzie Mgbako’s official visit to IU. Mgbako is of Nigerian descent, and he took photographs and videos while in Bloomington with the flag that the IU staff gave him on the visit.  People in his circle said the flag made a strong impression on Mgbako and his family. Recruiting insider Andrew Slater posted a short video on Saturday from 2024 5-star Liam McNeeley’s current visit to IU, and once again Indiana seems to be on top of its flag game. Indiana posted its week two injury report with the Big Ten office on Friday afternoon. In total IU has two players out and four who are questionable.
