It’s getting late in the 2024 class as the early signing period nears, and that means dominoes are falling. For Indiana fans, the news isn’t good this week, with three main targets seemingly off the board. Class of 2024 4-star wing Annor Boateng has canceled his scheduled visit to IU next weekend, Jamie Shaw of On3 is reporting via sources. Indiana appeared to be in a good spot to get Boateng’s final visit prior to this development. UPDATE:  Boateng committed to Missouri on Friday. Meanwhile, The Daily Memphian is reporting 4-star guard Curtis Givens is no longer considering IU. Givens tells…

A busy visit season continues this weekend for IU basketball. As we’ve previously reported on an individual basis, Indiana will host multiple class of 2025 prospects from the Midwest for what should be a really nice weekend in Bloomington. Here’s a quick snapshot of who will be in town. In-state forward Trent Sisley has been on the IU campus many times.  Sisley will return this weekend and on Oct. 20 for Hoosier Hysteria.  He has two siblings on campus who attend IU.   The Indiana staff has been down to visit the Heritage Hills H.S. (Lincoln City, Ind.) product multiple times…

He was 18, more than two thousand miles from home, and the only freshman on the team. Kel’el Ware’s freshman season at Oregon was by no means a disaster, but it’s no secret things didn’t go as planned considering his 5-star recruit, McDonald’s All-American credentials. The 7-foot Ware arrived at Eugene a year ago as an almost certain one-and-done. And now the Little Rock, Ark. product is one-and-Bloomington, a place no one thought he’d be at this time a year ago. What’s also no secret about Ware’s freshman campaign?  Right or wrong, there was chatter about his motor. Ware says…

There’s a simple way to explain the urgency to win Mike Woodson feels as the head coach of IU basketball. Other than the fact, of course, he’s coaching at a place where urgency to win is the expectation. Woodson was drafted by the New York Knicks before Carmelo Anthony was born, he coached Anthony in New York, and now he’s recruiting Anthony’s son at Indiana. Okay, no, it’s more simple than that. Woodson is 65 and not getting any younger.  Okay, yes, I’m saying Woodson is old. No, actually he kind of said that.  And, he came to IU with…

Indiana has a chance to land multiple elite Montverde Academy talents in the class of 2024. But one of them will not be 5-star forward Asa Newell. Newell announced a final four of Alabama, Georgia, Texas and Gonzaga on Wednesday. The 6-foot-9 Newell visited Indiana twice in 2022 but did not make a return visit, signaling he was likely to go elsewhere. Indiana’s options are dwindling in the senior class, but the Hoosiers are still after a main group that includes Liam McNeeley, Derik Queen, Boogie Fland, Curtis Givens and Annor Boateng.  Indiana has visited all but Boateng in the…

IU offensive coordinator Walt Bell has said one of the first systems he studied was Hal Mumme’s Air Raid offense at Kentucky. Bell was only 13 when Mumme coached against IU for the first time in Bloomington in 1997, so if he was watching on that fateful September afternoon, he was no doubt left in awe. Indiana fans were left in shock. The game ended up being a three-hour clinic for the Air Raid. Kentucky quarterback Tim Couch broke a school record with seven touchdown passes — four to Craig Yeast — as the Wildcats kept the ‘Bourbon Barrel’ with…
