Two of the 2025 prospects Indiana is recruiting the hardest right now gave their thoughts on the Hoosiers and other programs in reports by the national recruiting outlets over the last week. 7-footer Malachi Moreno is one of Indiana’s main frontcourt targets in the 2025 class. Moreno spoke with On3’s Joe Tipton about the Hoosiers: “Being on an adidas circuit team (Indiana Elite) and just knowing they’re one of the biggest adidas schools and I know my close relationship with adidas. If I go there, then I know I’m going to be set up. Coach (Mike) Woodson’s resume in…

With No. 2 Kansas coming to town, Saturday is going to be one of those days at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Adding to the pomp and pageantry, Indiana is bringing back the stripe out concept to the stands for the much anticipated battle with the Jayhawks. Fans are being asked to wear white red or white in alternating sections to create a striping effect that mimics the program’s legendary candy stripe pants. Indiana first held a stripe out in 2008 when the Hoosiers hosted Michigan State, and they’ve done it multiple times since. But it has been a while. To…
There’s no rule that says Indiana has to declare during the season Jakai Newton is taking a redshirt freshman year. That part can wait. But as has been the case for a while, all signs are pointing towards the Covington, Ga. product still having four years of eligibility remaining after this his first season in Bloomington. On his radio show Monday night, coach Mike Woodson told Don Fischer everything is pointing toward Newton not seeing the floor at all this year. “Unfortunately he’s not going to probably play this season because of the knee injury,” Woodson said Monday. “So we…

It’s been a whirlwind few days for class of 2024 signal caller Alberto Mendoza. After repeating as a state champion quarterback on Friday evening, he flew up to Indiana Saturday for an official visit. On Monday, Mendoza announced he has committed to play for IU. The 6-foot-2 Mendoza was a former James Madison commit before Curt Cignetti left his head coaching post there to take the reins at Indiana. He announced his decommitment from JMU shortly after Cignetti was hired at IU, opening speculation of an eventual flip to the Hoosiers. According to the On3 Industry Average, Mendoza is a…
It probably wasn’t fair to ask Sydney Parrish about her plans for the 2024-25 basketball season. But the Indiana forward was a good sport during the postgame media session at Rutgers on Saturday evening. And Parrish gave a response Indiana fans will like, even if she had to run it by her coach first. “I’m going to play my fifth year (at IU), if it’s okay with coach Moren,” Parrish said. Moren enthusiastically endorsed the idea. “We’re excited,” Moren said. “Syd has been a great addition to Indiana and our program. I kind of knew that’s where she was leaning…
Snap back to reality, ope, there goes gravity. With a chance to earn a statement nonconference win, Indiana fell flat on their face. It started out very promising, with IU raining threes and jumping out to a 22-10 lead. But a 42-12 finish to the first half by Auburn was more than enough to put the game out of reach. The Hoosiers never got closer than 11 in the second half. Let’s take a deeper look at how the Hoosiers lost 104-76 with another edition of The Report Card. Indiana (7-2, 2-0) will next face Kansas in Bloomington next Saturday.…
Mike Woodson said on Saturday he doesn’t change his rotation, but there have been exceptions. When Trey Galloway picked up his second foul with 8:54 left in the first half against Auburn, he was subbed out and never came back in the game until the second half. That was a significant change to the rotation. Without that second foul, Galloway almost certainly would have seen much more first half action. Indiana led at the moment of Galloway’s second foul, 26-24, but they’d never lead again. By that point the Hoosiers were well on their way to giving away an early…
Mackenzie Holmes was in All-American form, and her supporting cast was solid as Indiana gave Teri Moren her 100th Big Ten win in their conference opener. The Hoosiers gradually wore Rutgers into submission, winning 66-56 at the RAC in Piscataway, N.J. Indiana held its first double-digit lead when Sydney Parrish hit a left side triple and Chloe Moore-McNeil hit Parrish in the lane for two to go up 45-34 with 2:27 on the clock in the third. The Scarlet Knights trimmed the lead to eight at the end of the third. The IU lead ballooned to as many as 12…
