Coming off a disappointing loss at Nebraska, Indiana needed to find answers.  Down nine in the second half against Ohio State, they still needed to find answers.  They found them. The Hoosiers appeared to be in some trouble twice — down 30-23 in the first half, and 46-37 early in the second.  But from there IU outscored the the Buckeyes 34-19 to pull out an important home win in conference play. BLOOMINGTON — Indiana defeated Ohio State on Saturday evening at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall by a final score of 71-65. Ohio State led at halftime 38-37.  The Hoosiers were led in the game by Malik Reneau with 23 points and a team high seven rebounds.  Xavier Johnson added 18 points. Indiana will have a class of 2026 visitor at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall when the Hoosiers host Ohio State on Saturday evening. Class of 2026 forward Gabe Weis will be at the game as a recruiting guest. This will be the Kentucky product’s second visit to IU.  He was also in Bloomington for Hoosier Hysteria in October. The 6-foot-7 and 185-pound Weis averaged 11.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as a freshman at Washington County H.S. while shooting 53.9 percent from the field. The transfer commits kept coming for Indiana on Friday. Troy linebacker Jayden McDonald announced he’s headed to Bloomington for his final season of college football. It will be a return trip to the Big Ten for the 6-foot and 227-pound middle linebacker. McDonald led the Trojans with 75 tackles this season, along with 9.5 tackles for loss, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery from his Mike linebacker position. A graduate transfer, he has one season of eligibility remaining. A native of Suwanee, Ga., McDonald started his career at Iowa.  He did not see any game action there…

James Madison transfer wideout Elijah Sarratt is headed to Indiana. He announced the news on Thursday evening while on a visit in Bloomington. Sarratt was named first-team all-Sun Belt Conference after catching a team-high 82 passes for 1,191 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore in 2023, helping James Madison finish 11-2.  Over the Dukes’ final six games, Sarratt had over 100 receiving yards in five contests. The 6-foot-2 Sarratt transferred to JMU after spending one season at Saint Francis (2022) where he had 42 receptions for 700 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. To say Indiana started their game hot on Thursday evening would be a major understatement. The No. 14 Hoosiers were scorching the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall nets in the first half against the best scoring defense in the Big Ten. Indiana added North Carolina transfer running back Elijah Green on Thursday. The 5-foot-11 and 210-pound Green announced his transfer to IU on his social media pages. 2022 was Green’s best season at UNC, when he carried 131 times for 558 yards and eight TDs.  He also caught 17 passes for 107 yards and a score that season in 14 games.  He was the Tar Heels starting running back that season but later fell down the depth chart.  He had just four carries for 12 yards in 2023 after suffering a broken thumb at the start of the season. Indiana added a second Old Dominion safety on Thursday. Veteran defensive back Terry Jones announced he has committed to the Hoosiers. Jones appeared in all 12 games in 2023, starting 11 at safety.  He was third on the team and fourth in the Sun Belt with 107 tackles.  Jones had four tackles for loss and four pass breakups.  He tied his career-high with 13 tackles each against Marshall and Coastal Carolina.
