After a massive roster overhaul, IU coach Curt Cignetti said last week his team still had needs at the safety position. Jordan Grier is apparently not part of the answer for Cignetti’s Hoosiers going forward. The Ellenwood, Ga. product has entered the transfer portal for the second time in the last month. The safety/husky played in all 12 games in 2023, including three starts. He appeared in 29 games over three seasons with IU, and tallied 34 tackles with two tackles for a loss. Grier entered the portal on Dec. 5, announced his return to IU on Dec. 11, and…

Indiana has already landed two players from James Madison via the transfer portal, and that number seems likely to rise after the Dukes play Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl Saturday. On Wednesday, coach Curt Cignetti said the Hoosiers have signed seven players via the portal who won’t be named until after they participate in bowl games. So far Indiana has only announced one defensive addition via the portal, but Cignetti hinted the bulk of the unnamed additions will be on the defensive side of the ball. “I really like what we’ve done defensively up front and at linebacker…
Michael Penix, Jr. seemed to defy the laws of physics in 2020 as he floated along the sideline long enough to extend the ball to the goal line and give Indiana an improbable 36-35 overtime win over Penn State. Penn State fans will go to their graves insisting Penix was down, or the ball touched out of bounds before it broke the plane. But former Indiana coach Tom Allen never had a doubt, and he has since confidently displayed a framed photo of the memorable moment in his office at Memorial Stadium. Suddenly, Allen now finds himself on the other…
