One of the great defensive backs in IU football history, who made one of the greatest plays in Super Bowl history, officially went into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame this weekend. IU football is trending for class of 2027 wide receiver Ja’Hyde Brown out of Christian Academy in Louisville, Ky. Rivals national analyst Steve Wiltfong has logged a prediction for the Hoosiers to land Brown when he announces his college decision next month. As a junior Brown caught a state-high 98 passes for 1,556 yards and 24 TDs, leading Christian Academy to a perfect 15-0 record and the program’s fourth-straight championship. Indiana head football coach Curt Cignetti and quarterback Fernando Mendoza each earned accolades during ESPN’s 35th annual The Home Depot College Football Awards, while a trio of Hoosiers were selected for All-America honors during the telecast. Cignetti earns his second national coach of the year award this season in the form of the Home Depot Coach of the Year honor. He previously won the Walter Camp National Coach of the Year award. Indiana has locked up defensive coordinator Bryant Haines with another new contract “that will make him one of the nation’s highest-paid assistants.” That’s according to a Friday evening report by Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports. A source confirmed the report to The Daily Hoosier. Zenitz’ report indicates Haines was receiving outside interest for job openings. Haines was already a highly-paid assistant coach.  He signed a new deal following the 2024 season that increased his base pay to around $2 million for 2025.  Overall it’s his third salary increase since coming to IU from James Madison.
