Former IU basketball head coach Mike Davis was announced on Wednesday as an assistant at Memphis under Penny Hardaway. Davis comes to Memphis after spending the last six seasons as head coach at Detroit Mercy (2018-24). He coached his son there for five seasons. Davis’ coaching resume touts 35-plus years of experience on the sideline, including 24 years of head coaching experience with 14 postseason trips. Below is an overview of the snap counts and PFF grades for Indiana’s defense from the 42-13 win at UCLA. Also added are some notes on players standing out nationally on the season through three weeks. At 95.9, Indiana has the third-best overall team score in the nation according to PFF, behind just Ole Miss and Miami (Fla.). For the Monday Night Football broadcast duo of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, bragging rights were on the line when Indiana faced UCLA on Saturday at Rose Bowl Stadium. It’s been hard to find much to be critical about when it comes to IU football through the first three weeks. But one area the Hoosiers must clean up before they resume the Big Ten gauntlet — penalties. Indiana (3-0) ranks No. 112 (out of 134) FBS teams with a total of 25 penalties called against them thus far.  They’re No. 116 with 232 total penalty yards. Class of 2025 5-star Jalen Haralson has cut two planned visits and he’s nearing a decision. The 6-foot-6 in-state guard/wing told national 247Sports reporter Eric Bossi he won’t take previously planned visits to Kansas or Missouri, and he’s moving up a trip to Purdue to this coming weekend. After a 42-13 win at UCLA and a 3-0 start to the 2024 season, IU football is now firmly on the national radar. Indiana received seven votes in Sunday’s top-25 Coaches Poll following week three.  That effectively places them as the No. 39 team in the nation according to the coaches.  They received one vote the previous week. Indiana hasn’t just started the 2024 season 3-0. They’ve started 150 to 23. Or 50 to 7.7 per game, if you prefer. PASADENA, Calif. — Indiana defeated UCLA at Rose Bowl Stadium on Saturday evening by a final score of 42-13. Here’s three quick reasons why IU opened Big Ten play with a convincing road win. The Hoosiers (3-0, 1-0) will host Charlotte next Saturday in Bloomington. 1.
