After blowing a big lead and suffering multiple injuries, Indiana found a way in a game it had to win. The Hoosiers ran out to a 39-22 lead late in the first half. But Iowa went on a dominant 34-14 stretch spanning halftime to take the lead. Very similar to Saturday at Illinois, after each team delivered punches, the game was tied with a couple minutes to go. But this time the Hoosiers scored the last eight points of the game to claim the victory. Let’s take a deeper look at how IU won 74-68 with another edition of The…

There are only two Big Ten teams Mike Woodson hasn’t defeated during has tenure as Indiana coach. One of them, Fran McCaffery led Iowa, will be at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Tuesday evening. McCaffery is 4-0 against Woodson. And all of the losses have been games IU fans would rather forget. In January 2022 Indiana took an 11-point first half lead only to squander it with a very ugly second half performance. They lost 83-74 in Iowa City. In the 2022 Big Ten Tournament semifinals, the Hawkeyes closed the game on a 15-6 run over the last 3:20, with…
Indiana center Kel’el Ware will be a gameday decision when the Hoosiers host Iowa Tuesday (7 p.m. ET/BTN). IU radio voice Don Fischer asked coach Mike Woodson about Ware’s status during their live radio show on Monday evening. He appears to be trending favorably, and barring any setbacks should play. “We’ll know more tomorrow (Tuesday), he’s getting evaluated,” Woodson told Fischer. “He did some things on the floor today (Monday), but we’ll know more tomorrow when he comes in. We’ll make sure he’s not puffy and sore.” Ware sprained his ankle at practice prior to the Jan. 19 game at…
While Indiana went 0-of-9 from beyond the arc Saturday afternoon, there was something ironic about watching an Indiana kid connect for three 3-pointers, his nine points from long range being the difference in a 70-62 Illinois win. Make no mistake about it, Luke Goode wanted to play college basketball at Indiana. His father played football at IU, and his uncle is former Hoosiers’ quarterback Trent Green. He almost certainly would have jumped at the chance to follow in those footsteps in Bloomington. But the scholarship offer never came from Archie Miller, who instead only landed Logan Duncomb in the 2021…
Indiana has a had a few overarching on-court issues throughout this turbulent 2023-24 season. But one clear contender for the top challenge plaguing these Hoosiers would have to be their 3-point defense. First let’s take a step back. Now in his third season as head coach at Indiana, the analytics say this is Mike Woodson’s worst performing defense overall. And you’d find few who follow this team closely who would argue against that. Indiana’s KenPom adjusted defensive efficiency ranks No. 75 in the nation at the moment. They were No. 45 according to that metric a year ago, and No.…
This is just your typical weekend in college football recruiting, when a 5-star quarterback takes visits to Georgia, Alabama and Indiana. Say what now? According to a social media post by 247Sports national reporter Steve Wiltfong, Carrollton, Ga. class of 2025 quarterback Julian Lewis will visit Alabama on Friday, Georgia on Saturday, and IU on Sunday. Lewis has been committed to USC since August. But since reclassifying from the 2026 class to 2025, he has reopened his recruitment. The 6-foot-1 and 185-pound Lewis is the No. 1 quarterback in the 2025 class according to ESPN and Rivals. ESPN says he’s…
This one was never in doubt. Indiana stormed out to a 16-2 lead at home against Northwestern (7-13, 2-7) on Sunday afternoon and never looked back. The Hoosiers never trailed and led by as much as 50 points in a 100-59 blowout win at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Mackenzie Holmes led the way with team highs in points (27) and rebounds (11). Yarden Garzon added 15 points. In total, six Hoosiers reached double figures in the scoring column.
