Indiana offered Kentucky-based shooting guard Jayden Johnson during a visit on Saturday. Johnson announced the offer on his social media accounts. According to the On3 Industry Average, Johnson is the No. 36 overall player in the 2026 class, and the No. 9 shooting guard. The 6-foot-5 Johnson attends Trinity H.S. and hails from Louisville.  He plays on the Nike EYBL circuit for spring and summer basketball. He also has offers from Cincinnati, Michigan, Missouri, Texas A&M, West Virginia, and Xavier Johnson also visited Indiana for Hoosier Hysteria. While he was on a visit to IU on Saturday, the staff offered class of 2026 point guard Tay Kinney. Kinney announced the offer on his social media accounts. The 6-foot Kinney attends Newport H.S. in Newport, Ky.  For spring and summer basketball he played last year for the All Ohio Red 15u team on the Nike EYBL circuit. This season the sophomore is averaging 18.6 points per game on 49 percent shooting overall including 43 percent from three (on 112 attempts).  As a freshman at Newport, Kinney averaged 13.9 points per game.  He shot 47 percent from the field…

Indiana’s faint glimmer of NCAA Tournament hope crashed and burned on Saturday afternoon in Bloomington. BLOOMINGTON —  Indiana lost to Penn State Saturday afternoon at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall by a final score of 85-71. Indiana will once again be playing without Xavier Johnson when the Hoosiers face Penn State on Saturday (Noon ET, FS1). The sixth-year guard was listed as OUT against the Nittany Lions on the Big Ten’s availability report.   Johnson suffered an elbow injury in connection with a hard fall to the floor on Tuesday against Iowa. Shooters know shooters. Former IU basketball star Christian Watford made 42.3 percent of his 3-point shots at Indiana on 388 attempts for his career. He was undeniably a good shooter. And in Anthony Leal, Watford sees another shooter. Expect the IU basketball coaching staff to be a fixture at the games of Adidas sponsored Indiana Elite’s 2025 team this spring and summer. Mike Woodson has or will see the three priority targets on that team this week, and he and his staff should remain heavily involved during the upcoming months.
