Indiana sophomore center Trayce Jackson-Davis was named a third-team All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Thursday. It’s the third service that has named Jackson-Davis a third-team All-American, joining the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) and the Sporting News. He was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press. Jackson-Davis averaged 19.1 points and 9.0 rebounds this season. Indiana sophomore forward Trayce Jackson-Davis was named a third-team All-American by the United States Basketball Writers Association on Wednesday. Jackson-Davis was named an honorable mention All-America by the Associated Press on Tuesday. He finished fourth in the Big Ten in scoring (19.1 points per game), third in rebounding (9.0 rpg) and fifth in field goal percentage (51.7 percent.). The consensus, apparent No. 1 choice of Indiana fans to be the Hoosiers’ next basketball coach was asked both on radio and in a pre-game press meeting about the Indiana job and in both cases said he was flattered but planned to stick with his current job. Indiana sophomore Trayce Jackson-Davis was named an honorable mention AP All-American, failing to crack any of the top three teams. However, he was named to the United States Basketball Writers Association’s All-District V team.  The USBWA picks All-America teams but also splits players and schools into voting districts. Indiana is part of District V, which also includes all Division I schools in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota. Jackson-Davis was one of 10 players named to team. Scott Dolson went out of his way to say that he hasn’t already picked his next coach and that no one else has picked it for him. The Indiana athletic director said he didn’t decide until after the Hoosiers’ season ended that it was time to make a change in leadership and part ways with Archie Miller after four seasons. Archie Miller has been fired after four seasons at Indiana, according to a source close to the department. Jeff Goodman of Stadium reported the news first. The Hoosiers failed to make the NCAA Tournament in Miller’s fourth year, finishing 12-15 with six straight losses to end the season. Miller was 67-56 in his four years at the helm with a 33-43 record in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers were 20-12 in the 2019-20 season and would have made the NCAA Tournament had the event not been cancelled. They didn’t make it in any of his other three seasons. Miller is…

It wouldn’t have taken much for Scott Dolson to be spared this decision in his first year as Indiana’s athletic director. Archie Miller is in the fourth year of a seven-year contract with a buyout over $10 million due to him if he were to be terminated. That’s nearly a prohibitive amount of money to start with, and it’s even worse in a year in which a pandemic has rocked the nation’s economy and prevented college sports teams from allowing enough fans to attend games to create meaningful revenue streams.
