Former Hoosiers Benson and Moore on the rise at NFL camps ahead of exhibition games

Two undrafted members of Indiana’s 2025 national championship team are off to strong starts at NFL training camps.

Kahlil Benson has turned a spring minicamp tryout with the Kansas City Chiefs into a potential starting role this fall.

The 6-foot-6 Benson appeared in 49 career college games with 33 starts. He started games at right tackle and right guard.  The Chiefs are putting that positional versatility to the test.  Benson has played starting right tackle and right guard during training camp in Kansas City.  He’s going to get an extended look during Kansas City’s exhibition games, and currently appears likely to make the team.

“He’s done a nice job…very strong, powerful, good feet, good athletic ability…he has a lot of talent there,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said.

Benson played at IU for five years, beginning with the memorable 2020 campaign. He left to play for Colorado in 2024 before returning to Bloomington for his final year of eligibility.

The Chiefs begin exhibition action Saturday against the Rams at 4 p.m. ET in Kansas City (NFL Network).

Meanwhile, former IU safety Louis Moore is making a strong impression with the Dolphins.

Known for his playmaking ability, Moore has picked up in Miami where he left off…in Miami.

“Louis Moore has been one of the early, young standouts during Miami’s opening sessions of training camp,” wrote Jason Sarney of Dolphins Wire.  “Moore has been all over the field with pass breakups, an interception, getting into the backfield on a tackle for loss, and forcing a fumble on a punch-out.”

Sarney says Moore might have the best chance of any undrafted player to make the Miami roster.

Moore started all 16 games for IU in 2025 and earned Second Team All-American honors.  On the season he had six interceptions and four pass breakups. He also made 88 tackles, with 2.5 for loss.

Miami opens exhibition play on Friday at 7 p.m. ET at Washington.
