Report indicates 2024 shooting guard Austin Swartz is eyeing IU visit

One of the fastest rising shooting guards in the class of 2024 is North Carolina based Austin Swartz.

Swartz entered the spring a bit under the radar, but he’s posted massive numbers on the Nike EYBL.

With 21 points per game, Swartz was the third-highest scorer on the Nike EYBL Circuit this spring. He added 3.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while shooting 44.3 percent from the field overall including 37.2 percent from three, and Swartz made 88.9 percent from the stripe.

Swartz was ranked No. 96 nationally in the 2024 class according to the On3 Industry Average coming into the spring, but he’s moved up to No. 62, and he’s still rising.  In their own rankings, On3 just pegged Swartz at No. 28.

So far Swartz has taken visits to Clemson and Tennessee, but he’s got more on his radar.

The 6-foot-5 Swartz caught up with On3’s Jamie Shaw over the weekend and said he’s looking at four more visits before making a college decision, including IU.

“I’m talking with UConn about a visit,” Swartz told Shaw. “I’m trying to set up something with Indiana, Florida State, Georgia, and that’s kind of where things are right now.”

With this news, we’ve moved Swartz up to the main targets section for 2024 prospects on our main IU basketball recruiting page.

Swartz told Shaw that next round of visits likely won’t take place until August at the soonest.  He’s looking at a fall commitment.

Indiana just offered Swartz in April, and that was their first communication with the Concord, N.C. product.

But the IU staff has been pushing hard ever since, and they’ve made a strong impression.

“Coach (Kenya) Hunter and Coach (Adam) Howard, those are the two that I’ve been talking to the most,” Swartz told The Daily Hoosier.  “Cool people, I definitely like both of them for sure.

“They’ve talked to me about Jalen Hood-Schifino, because he’s a North Carolina kid just like me, and what they did for him. We’re kind of different players, but just seeing how they can elevate my game to his level, because he’s going to be a lottery pick, and I’m trying to get there. What they did with him, I feel like they can do the same with me.”

The Daily Hoosier caught up with Swartz at the Nike EYBL stop in Memphis in late May. For our full Q&A, GO HERE:
