Following a landmark victory, Indiana football has made a historic rise in the polls.
The Hoosiers pulled off one of their greatest-ever wins on Saturday, a 30-20 triumph over Oregon at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore. And that signature result has vaunted them to No. 3 in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Poll. It’s IU’s highest-ever ranking in the AP Poll.
Additionally, the Hoosiers received one first-place vote in the Coaches Poll, and three first-place votes in the AP Poll. It’s their first time garnering a first-place vote in the latter rankings since 1967, and just the fourth time in program history.
The Ducks, previously No. 3 in the AP Poll, slipped to No. 8 after the defeat.
IU remains behind No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Miami. The Hoosiers jumped ahead of No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 5 Ole Miss, as well as Oregon and No. 14 Oklahoma, which both lost.
Indiana returns home to face Michigan State next week.
