The first pregame injury report for the National Championship was released Friday evening.
Once again, there were no surprises for Indiana’s side.
IU kickoff specialist Brendan Franke is listed as questionable. Franke participated in warmups and dressed to play for the Peach Bowl, but did not see any playing time.
The Hoosiers continue to label Stephen Daley, Kellan Wyatt, Lee Beebe, Jr., and Bryson Bonds as out. They are all out for the season. Jah Jah Boyd, Amariyun Knighten, and Andrew Depaepe are also out. They are all transferring out of the program.
For Miami, defensive back Xavier Lucas is listed as out for the first half. Lucas was ejected for a targeting call against Ole Miss in the fourth quarter of the Fiesta Bowl. Lucas had started every game for Miami before the National Championship. He’s recorded 45 total tackles, one forced fumble, and one interception on the year. Miami’s Damari Brown, who adds depth to their secondary, is also listed as questionable.
Miami will also be without tight end Elija Lofton. Lofton, a 6-foot-3 and 230-pound sophomore, has seen meaningful snaps for the Hurricanes during the season. He has 23 receptions for 218 yards and three touchdowns for the year. Lofton suffered an injury during the Fiesta Bowl and was carted off the field.
