Whatever the future holds, the last two seasons of Indiana football will never be forgotten.
The greatest two-year run in program history has been led by players who probably — but not definitively — will be playing their last home game at Indiana on Saturday.
IU will hold a ceremony on the field at Memorial Stadium at 11:30 a.m. ET — 30 minutes before kickoff vs. Wisconsin — to honor the players who are out of eligibility this season. Their families will be on the field with them.
Headlined by two-year key contributors Elijah Sarratt, Aiden Fisher, Mikail Kamara and Kaelon Black, this is a senior class that brought unimaginable success to Bloomington.
“Obviously it’s a special class,” IU coach Curt Cignetti said on his radio show Thursday evening. “Lot of great leadership, lot of great production, lot of people that helped put Indiana on the map. Lot of guys I’ve known a long time and recruited out of high school.”
There is still a chance IU will play another game in Bloomington after Saturday. You don’t want to hear about that.
As long as the Hoosiers remain a top-four seed in the College Football Playoff, they’ll get a first round bye and won’t play at home again. But if they ended up being a No. 5-8 seed, IU would host a first round game. Currently the No. 2 seed, obviously the path to playing another home game involves a loss between now and the CFP.
“This could be the last home game, hopefully it is,” Cignetti said. “That would mean we took care of business and got a bye in the first round.”
Emotions will be high on the field just 30 minutes before kickoff Saturday as some of the greatest players to ever wear the cream and crimson are honored.
But those players will have to quickly compartmentalize that moment and turn to the Badgers.
Cignetti is not worried about his team’s ability to focus.
“I don’t think anybody’s reminiscing right now, to be honest with you,” he said.
These are the players Indiana lists on the roster as fourth or fifth-year seniors, or more.
*At least in two cases players appear to be eligible for a medical hardship waiver and could return in 2026.
