Indiana shutout UConn on Sunday afternoon, 4-0, at Jerry Yeagley Field and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament.

The No. 2 Hoosiers were dominant from start to finish as they outshot the Huskies 22-3 in the contest.

After registering 6 corner kicks through the opening 15 minutes, Indiana broke a scoreless tie at 16:07, as Andrew Gutman headed home IU’s seventh corner kick to give the Hoosiers a 1-0 lead.

Indiana increased its lead to two goals after Rece Buckmaster beat the UConn goalie and netted a goal four yards out from the near right side. The Hoosiers would take the 2-0 lead into the halftime break, holding a 13-1 shot advantage.

Timmy Mehl (58th) converted on a deflected header off a corner kick and Spencer Glass (60th) scored on a shot from the left side into the near post – extending Indiana’s advantage to 4-0 and putting the game out of reach.

The match was physical throughout, resulting in 20 fouls.  UConn managed just three shot attempts in 90 minutes of play against the Hoosiers’ pressing attack. – two of which sailed high of the goal post and the third saved by Indiana keeper Trey Muse.

Indiana will face the winner of #8 Denver/#20 Air Force in the Third Round next Sunday in Bloomington.
