Indiana is still looking to make spring roster additions via the transfer portal.
Curt Cignetti and staff got a massive spring commitment a year ago along the defensive line from the MAC Conference in C.J. West.
Can they repeat the feat in 2025?
Ohio transfer defensive tackle Cam Rice is a name to know, and it won’t come as a surprise if IU gets traction here.
Rice is a graduate transfer who entered the portal last week. Indiana was one of several Power Four programs that offered last week.
Rice began his career at West Virginia in 2021 as a walk-in before transferring to West Liberty (Division-II) for two seasons. He took a redshirt season at West Virginia.
At West Liberty in 2022-23, Rice posted 89 tackles, 37 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks. He transferred to Ohio ahead of the 2024 season.
One of the anchors up front for arguably the best defense in the MAC Conference in 2024, Rice had 30 total tackles from the trenches, including nine tackles for loss and three sacks at Ohio. The team took home its first MAC championship since 1968 and won 11 games for the first time in school history.
Indiana appears to be competing mainly against Purdue, Mississippi State, West Virginia and few other Power Four programs.
Rice has one season of eligibility remaining, perhaps more depending on how the NCAA handles Division II seasons.
