With spring football approaching, we’re going position by position looking at Indiana’s roster.
Tight end is one of the biggest question marks on Indiana’s roster going into spring ball.
IU lost all its returning production at the position from its national championship season. Riley Nowakowski was a vital piece for the Hoosiers all year, and they had quality depth with Holden Staes making plenty of plays along the way as well.
And now, tight ends coach Grant Cain has an extremely young group to work with. Redshirt freshman Brock Schott is probably the favorite at this stage after transferring in from Miami (Fla.), but there isn’t much to base that on. He caught two passes for the Hurricanes in 2025, seeing the field in only two games. Redshirt freshmen Blake Thiry and Andrew Barker return, but barely saw the field last season. Given the state of the room, true freshmen Trevor Gibbs and Parker Elmore can’t be ruled out, either.
This will be a position to watch during spring ball, as well as fall camp, to see who emerges to start the season.
