Below we took a look at Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades, notes and snap counts from Indiana’s week seven contest at Oregon.

The Hoosiers are No. 1 overall at PFF through six games.  They have the No. 1 offense in the nation, and they are tied for the No. 2 defense.

Next up for No. 3 Indiana (6-0) is a return home to face Michigan State on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET (Peacock).

    OFFENSIVE STANDOUTS

The top overall offensive grade went to wide receiver Elijah Sarratt, who had eight catches for 121 yards and a score.  PFF gave him three contested catches, no drops, and 59 yards after catch.  As a team IU had no drops in the high profile road contest.

Among the regulars on the offensive line, Carter Smith had the top pass blocking and run blocking grades.  He didn’t allow any pressures in the passing game, and he wasn’t called for any pre-snap penalties.  Although he only played five snaps, Zen Michalski had the second-highest marks in both categories. He replaced right tackle Kahlil Benson briefly.  Benson did not grade out well.   Running back pass blocking was more steady in this one than the Iowa game.

Quarterback Fernando Mendoza received just average grades.  He threw an interception.  Oregon was credited with 13 quarterback pressures.

The top running back grade went to Roman Hemby, who recorded 45 yards after contact, forced a missed tackle and also caught two passes on two targets for 25 yards.  With 25 yards receiving he is now the only active FBS player with 2,500 yards rushing and 1,000-yards receiving in his career.

    OFFENSIVE SNAP COUNTS (72 total)

    • Drew Evans (G) – 72
    • Carter Smith (T) – 72

    DEFENSIVE STANDOUTS

Linebacker Aiden Fisher had the top run defense grade, and he too had solid marks in all aspects of the defense.

A third linebacker, Rolijah Hardy, had the top tackling grade and pass rush grade.  Mikail Kamara led the team in quarterback pressures with six.

Among defensive backs, Louis Moore had the top coverage grade.  D’Angelo Ponds was targeted six times for just two receptions and 14 yards.

Jones, Fisher and Hardy were three of IU’s four-highest graded defensive players, as they combined for 34 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.  They collectively only missed two tackles.
