Indiana football’s first Big Ten game of the 2025 season will get prime-time treatment.
The Hoosiers, ranked No. 22 in the latest AP Poll, are taking on No. 9 Illinois on Sept. 20 to begin conference play. That game will kick off at Merchants Bank Field at Memorial Stadium at 7:30 p.m., the program announced Monday. The game will be televised on NBC.
The game will also be a “red out” Indiana announced, so fans in attendance are obviously encouraged to wear red.
Indiana previously announced the Illinois game has sold out. Fans still looking for tickets can use our Stub Hub affiliate link.
The Fighting Illini hold a 46-26-2 edge in the all-time series. This is Curt Cignetti’s first matchup against Illinois — the last time the teams played came in 2023, when UI pulled out a 48-45 overtime win in Champaign, Ill. Indiana won the last meeting in Bloomington, a 23-20 final in the 2022 season-opener.
This will be the third time Cignetti’s Hoosiers face a top-10 opponent — they lost both opportunities last season, against Ohio State and Notre Dame. It’s the first top-10 opponent to visit Memorial Stadium since the 2023 season-opener against Ohio State.
