Indiana has for the most part avoided injuries this season.

But the Hoosiers have had a small run of setbacks over the last week beginning with the season ending injury to starting guard Drew Evans.  He was the second interior offensive lineman the Hoosiers lost for the season after Nick Kidwell was injured during fall camp.

On his Thursday evening radio show, IU coach Curt Cignetti said Evans was injured during a sled drill at practice in the days leading up to the Michigan game.  He suffered an Achilles injury.

Filling in for Evans on Saturday against Michigan was veteran lineman Tyler Stephens.  Cignetti said Stephens “more than held his own” against the Wolverines’ stout defensive line.

During the Michigan game IU had two offensive skill position players go down with injuries.

Wide receiver Myles Price was hurt after catching a pass near the goal line and taking a hard hit in the first half on Saturday.  He laid on the field for a moment before popping up and walking to the the locker room under his own power.  He did not return to the game.

Running back Justice Ellison also took a hard hit after catching a pass near the IU sideline in the first half.  He needed medical attention and left the game.  Ellison did return but did not play as much as he typically does.

Cignetti said on his Thursday radio show Price and Ellison are both okay and back at practice this week.

Both players have had key roles for the Hoosiers in 2024.

After transferring from Texas Tech, Price has caught 30 passes for 377 yards and two scores.  He has rushed five times for 39 yards and another touchdown.  Price is also the team’s punt returner and he has amassed 258 return yards on 20 attempts.

A Wake Forest transfer, Ellison has rushed 120 times for 686 yards and nine touchdowns, and he’s added 11 catches for 84 yards.

No. 5 Indiana (10-0) has the weekend off before traveling to Ohio State on Nov. 23.
