Indiana and the Nittany Lions tip off at 8:30 p.m. ET on FS1.

    ———————————————————————–

    FINAL: Indiana 113 – Penn State 72

    Image

    IU 105 – PSU 64 with 3:51 to play.

    • Lamar Wilkerson breaks the record for most threes made in a single game by a Hoosier. He checked out to a standing ovation and will finish with 44 points on the night.

IU up 94-51 with 7:15 to play.

    • Lamar Wilkerson is back in. Hard to tell if any of Indiana’s staff is aware of any record, but one more three would put him at 40 points.
    • Outside of that, not much else to say here. Penn State is a very young team with a long way to go before being consistently competitive. Freshman Kayden Mingo is a very solid player for them, and they have some pieces that will continue to develop.

Indiana ahead 86-43 with 10:42 left.

    • Lamar Wilkerson has tied the single-game three-pointers made record for IU basketball. He’s tied with Rod Wilmont, Matt Roth, and Robert Johnson. Needs one more to take it himself.
    • Reed Bailey is up to 15 points tonight. It wasn’t necessarily surprising to see his starting spot get taken, but he’s responded very well tonight. He hasn’t missed from the field and continues to battle in the paint.

IU jumps out to a 78-34 lead with 15:05 left to play.

    • Lamar Wilkerson is shooting a Nerf ball into a pool. He cannot miss from anywhere. He’s up to 32 points on 8-10 shooting from beyond the arc. Haven’t had someone shoot the ball like this in Assembly Hall in a long time.
    • I can’t let Tayton Conerway go unnoticed either. He’s behind Wilkerson with 17. When Indiana’s experienced leaders are on, they’re one of the most exciting offensive teams in the country.

    HALFTIME: Indiana 58 – Penn State 26

    Image

    FIRST HALF

Indiana up 47-18 with 3:35 in the half.

    • There’s not much you can nitpick about IU’s game right now. Penn State is one for their last seven from the field, and are scoring just .581 points per possession. Kayden Mingo, who is their leading scorer with 10, also just picked up his third foul.
    • Although he’s only scored four points, Tucker DeVries leads Indiana’s box plus-minus with +31. He’s got five points, a rebound, a block and a steal to go with his scoring.

IU storms to a 37-14 lead with 6:58 left to go in the half.

    • Wilkerson did not stop after that timeout. He’s got 20 first-half points, shooting 8-of-10 from the field. Overall, Indiana is on a 20-2 run over the last 4:34.
    • The Hoosiers are doing well on both ends, not just offense. They’ve limited Penn State to 29 percent from the field and have forced eight turnovers. PSU doesn’t have anyone to turn to to get a bucket.

Indiana takes a 27-12 lead with 9:29 in the half.

    • Lamar Wilkerson is, what you call, “hooping”. He’s up to 15 points, a couple of rebounds, an assist, and two steals. He’s had a few tough finishes in the paint and has led IU to a 10-0 run.

Hoosiers lead 17-11 with 11:56 to play in the half.

    • Indiana is getting a lot of good looks on offense so far. They’ve started 60 percent from the field and are 5-of-8 from three-point range. A few turnovers limited their possessions in that segment, though.
    • I’ve been impressed with Reed Bailey’s motor here in the first couple of minutes. He’s looked a bit more confident and physical down low on both sides of the floor, but especially on defense.

IU leads 12-7 through the first media timeout. 15:49 left in the half.

    • Well, Lamar Wilkerson has shot himself out of his slump in the first few minutes. He’s got nine early points and is 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. PSU has given him way too much space.
    • Don Fischer said on his pregame radio spot that multiple players on the team are sick with the flu. I believe every player is on the bench, but that could potentially point to why Jasai Miles is questionable.

    PREGAME NOTES

    • Jasai Miles has been placed as QUESTIONABLE entering tonight’s contest. Both Jason Drake and Josh Harris are OUT.
    • Simply put, IU has to get out to a better start than its past few games. That was key to their wins over higher competition before conference play began.
    • We have a change to the starting lineup. Sam Alexis is in place of Reed Bailey. Enright, Conerway, Wilkerson, and DeVries join him.
