———————————————————————–
FINAL: Oregon 73, Indiana 64
SECOND HALF
Galloway can’t find a lane and turns it over. Bittle knocks down two off a foul from Galloway.
Crazy shot by Jackson Shelstad to put Oregon ahead. 66-64 with 1:22 left.
Massive three by Trey Galloway down the stretch. Indiana leads 64-63 with 1:57 left.
Knotted up at 61 with 3:30 left to play.
- Indiana started to settle a bit too much and are now one of their last eight from the field. They’re lucky Oregon is also struggling, as the Ducks haven’t scored in the last three minutes. Physical game out in Eugene.
- The biggest question for Indiana is who do you go to down the stretch. No option has been reliable up to this point, but you’ve had the most efficiency from inside. I would personally gravitate to Ballo getting more touches.
Hoosiers take a 59-57 lead with 7:23 left to play.
- There’s been plenty of moments where Indiana has not had the whistle on their side tonight, but they have made it up with some really nice defense. Oregon is 0-for-6 from three-point range in the second half.
- Trey Galloway now leads IU with 13 points so far. He’s done a bit of everything with four assists and three rebounds to his name as well.
The Ducks lead 53-52 with 10:25 left.
- Seems like a game that’s due to come down to the wire. Both teams are 7-16 from the field in the half and have forced three turnovers.
- Oregon is setting themselves apart on the glass, though. They lead the overall margin 33-28, and have 12 offensive rebounds for 19 second chance points.
Oregon up 47-42 with 15:23 left in the game.
- Former IU recruiting target is having a solid day against the Hoosiers. He’s got 10 points on 4-5 shooting. Oregon has not missed their last four attempts.
- Both Ballo and Galloway have eight points each to lead Indiana. It’s been a nice even effort from IU once again, as each player has at least one point.
HALFTIME: Oregon 35, Indiana 32
FIRST HALF
Oregon leads 30-27 with 3:38 in the half.
- Carlyle with another one from downtown. Indiana has played complimentary in the latter stages of this half, as the Ducks are now two of their last 11 from the field.
- Hoosiers are still limiting turnovers with three so far. Oregon’s done a good job protecting it as well with two so far.
IU is chipping away slowly but still trail 28-24 with 4:56.
- Kanaan Carlyle comes off the bench and knocks down a three. There was a stretch of the season where he didn’t play much, if at all. He’s slowly starting to find more confidence in each game.
Quick sequence as Oregon still leads 25-19 with 7:57 in the half.
- Ballo and Reneau in the game together, along with Carlyle, Leal, and Rice. I don’t hate it, but they haven’t been able to capitalize on it yet. The offense still seems a little stagnant with them together.
- Reneau comes off the bench and gets two quick buckets. I thought there was a chance we would’ve seen him start. But hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
The Ducks lead 20-15 with 10:45 left to play.
- Indiana gets a three to fall from Luke Goode, but still haven’t been able to keep up with Oregon offensively. OU is shooting 53% from the field so far.
- Trey Galloway has inserted himself well in this game so far, with a couple of nice buckets and assists. Did turn it over heading into the media timeout, but it’s only IU’s second of the game so far.
Oregon leads 10-6 through the first media timeout. 15:51 left in the half.
- Indiana started well but are just 3-10 from the field to start out. They haven’t gotten anything to fall from beyond the arc as they’ve started 0-4. Galloway leads IU with four points.
- Oregon has gotten to their spots on the offensive end and have started 4-6 from the field. Looks like Anthony Leal with guard Jackson Shelstad primarily. He also has four early points.
PREGAME NOTES
- There is a clean injury report, apart from Jakai Newton and Gabe Cupps remaining OUT. Nobody on Oregon’s report either.
- I’ll be interested to see how much Indiana tries to exploit Oregon’s defense inside. Teams have had success against Oregon in that area. Maybe we will see a return of the two big lineup?
- Starters for IU: Leal, Galloway, Goode, Mgbako and Ballo
