Feel free also to join the discussion thread below to share your views.

Indiana and the Cardinals tip off at 2:15 p.m. ET on CBS.

    ———————————————————————–

    FINAL: Louisville 87 – Indiana 78

    Image

    SECOND HALF

Louisville is ahead 77-62 with 3:44 left to play.

    • Well, it’s out of reach for Indiana now. IU will go to 7-2 and move well out of the rankings. A lot of things to clean up before another Big Ten matchup against Penn State.
    • Louisville now has five different double-figure scorers, and that’s without Mikel Brown. The Cardinals have been able to spread the ball around, which is not a luxury Indiana has.

Cardinals are well in control now. 65-48 with 8:17 left to play.

    • IU is one for their last seven from the field, and that’s pretty much been the story. Indiana is shooting 35% from the field and is 5-of-26 from beyond the arc. Louisville’s defense has been an underrated aspect of this game, but the Hoosiers also have not given themselves any favors.
    • Louisville has three double-figure scorers with Conwell, Isaac McNeely, and Kobe Rodgers. Enright has limited Mikel Brown offensively, as he only has two points. Still, the Cards have made shots when they needed to.

Louisville is up 58-46 with 11:50 to go.

    • Indiana got within eight points, but the Cardinals won’t go away. Even with hitting six of their last eight shots, Louisville is matching every step of the way. That 16-0 start continues to be the biggest factor for IU battling back.
    • Ryan Conwell leads all scorers in this game with 17. Those of you may recall Indiana battled with Louisville to get him out of the portal, and for good reason. Conwell’s experience shows when he’s on the floor, and he’s got a really good supporting cast around him.

Louisville leads 52-39 with 14:41 to play.

    • IU just can’t gather stops to cut into the lead. They’ve made their last three, but Louisville is 10-24 from beyond the arc and has made two in the half already. Indiana is 4-of-18 on threes,
    • Tayton Conerway comes out with two buckets. Indiana is going to need him to attack the paint to get the offense flowing a bit more.

    HALFTIME: Indiana 27 – Louisville 41

    FIRST HALF

Louisville leads 36-23 with 2:55 left in the first half.

    • Indiana is at 29 percent from the field so far in this half. They’re one for their last seven, and are 3-14 from beyond the arc. Still not a ton of offense going for the Hoosiers.
    • Both Reed Bailey and Sam Alexis have missed multiple opportunities from just a few feet in. I voiced concerns early on about their lack of presence on the post, and it’s showing a bit here.
    • Tucker DeVries just picked up his third foul before the media timeout. Overall, IU isn’t in terrible foul trouble, but with DeVries at three and Conerway at two, that will definitely be a factor in the second half.

The Cards lead 27-16 with 7:05 left in the half.

    • IU is trying to trade buckets with Ryan Conwell right now and it’s not working. Conwell has nine points with two made from beyond the arc. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Conerway come back to guard him soon.
    • Lamar Wilkerson has started slow once again for Indiana. He’s 1-6 from the field and 1-4 from three. He helped the Hoosiers tremendously against Baylor in this arena, and he’s going to have to return to that form to have a chance here.

Louisville maintains a 19-8 lead with 10:44 in the half.

    • Finally, Indiana has some life. Tucker DeVries knocks two down from beyond the arc to give IU a little bit of life. They also forced four straight turnovers, but Louisville is still controlling things offensively. If the Hoosiers get back in this, it’s gonna come from defensive stops.
    • Sam Alexis has had two three-pointers scored on him because he’s a step off the perimeter. Louisville is a team that can stretch the floor with every player on their roster. Both Alexis and Bailey will have to step up.

Louisville leads 10-0 with 15:04 left in the half.

    • Indiana has gotten absolutely blitzed on offense. Hoosiers have four turnovers and are 0-4 from the field. Nothing is opening up for them early.
    • Tayton Conerway is already sitting with two fouls in the first three minutes. He could be an x-factor in this game, but now he’s a bit limited in the first half.

    PREGAME NOTES

    • Aleksa Ristic is fully off the pregame Big Ten availability report. Harris and Drake both remain OUT.
    • Indiana will be in their away red uniforms today. Not sure it’ll be much of an away crowd, but the Hoosiers are in crimson nonetheless.
    • No changes to the starting lineup: Enright, Conerway, Wilkerson, DeVries, Bailey
