Our transfer portal names to know series involves players with rumored interest or interesting connections with IU basketball.
Belmont transfer forward Sam Orme is an Indiana native (Carmel H.S., Carmel, Ind.), and a name to know for IU basketball.
When he was young high school prospect, Orme told TDH he comes from a big IU family. Obviously that won’t exclusively drive his recruitment, but it’s at least an interesting side note.
Orme has been with Belmont for the last three seasons and he has progressed into a potential high major player.
Listed at 6-foot-9 and 220-pounds, Orme averaged 12.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in 30 games with 29 starts. He shot 56.5% overall from the field, including 40.3% from three on 124 attempts.
As a sophomore in 2024-25, Orme averaged 9.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists per game. He played in 26 games with nine starts.
Orme redshirted in his 2023-24 freshman season, leaving him with two years of eligibility remaining.
An Indiana All-Star at Carmel, Orme averaged 18.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game as a senior on 54 percent shooting.
We’ll take a closer look at names to know if/when their recruitments develop further.
