IU basketball recruiting: Indiana offers 2025 wing Koa Peat

Mike Woodson isn’t hesitating to compete for the best of the best.

That became more evident when Indiana offered class of 2025 forward Koa Peat following his dominant performance during the first recruiting live period.

The 6-foot-8 Peat plays up two years at the 17U level on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, and he played up three years last year.  He is teammates with fellow IU target Andrej Stojakovic on the Compton Magic.

While playing some in front IU assistants including Kenya Hunter, Peat averaged 22.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting 52 percent over the four games of the live period.

While he is still too young to try to fit into a position, Peat looks the part of a point-forward

Hailing from Gilbert, Ariz. (Perry H.S.), Peat is expected to compete for the top ranking in the class of 2025 throughout his high school tenure.  The reason he should be right there is his versatile inside-out game.  Peat can run the floor, make threes, and finish at the rim — and he is a good athlete.  To all that he adds a big, physical frame that already has the look of a high major player despite his young age.

247Sports national analyst Eric Bossi wrote this about Peat after watching him a few weeks ago.

“He comes from a long line of athletes on the football side but is building his own legacy on the basketball side,” Bossi wrote He’s got a sturdy base, is as intelligent a player as we saw in the building and is really productive as a scorer and rebounder. He carries himself with maturity and looks ready to handle the microscope he’s already under as the West Coast’s top player in the freshman class to this point.”

Rankings are not yet published for the class of 2025.

Peat had several offers before he began playing high school basketball, and now claims offers from Illinois, UCLA, USC, Kansas, Kansas State, Arizona, Texas, Arizona State, Texas Tech, and Washington in addition to Indiana.
