When it comes to recruiting, two is better than one.
According to a report by Sam Kayser, Indiana is in contact with class of 2026 4-star forward twins Gallagher and Gavin Placide. They are described in the 6-foot-8 to 6-foot-10 range by various outlets.
Gallagher is the No. 77 player in the class according to the industry average, and the No. 9 power forward. Gavin is the No. 53 player and the No. 18 small forward.
Both players are skilled forwards, with emerging wing skills and the ability to shoot the three, but with size and frames that would fit as high major stretch-fours.
They played their junior high school seasons at national prep powerhouse Sunrise Christian in Kansas. IU assistant coach Rod Clark was an assistant at Sunrise for two seasons from 2017-19.
For travel basketball the twins play for AAO Flight on the NXTPRO Puma Circuit. They both participated in the NBPA top-100 camp in front of the IU staff earlier this month.
In addition to IU, Kayser says Purdue, Florida State, Wake Forest, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Kansas State, Cal, Stanford, and Oklahoma State are also in touch with the twins.
IU AFTER 5-STAR FINNISH BIG MAN
On3’s Joe Tipton reported Wednesday IU is in the mix for class of 2026 5-star Miikka Muurinen.
According to the industry average, Muurinen is the No. 10 overall player in the 2026 class, and the No. 1 power forward. The 6-foot-10 Muurinen attends national high school powerhouse Compass Prep.
Muurinen has completed visits last year to Utah, Michigan, and Arkansas. He also holds offers from BYU, Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, UConn, Kansas, Louisville, and others.
The 18-year-old Muurinen is from Finland. He’s not playing AAU this summer, and that has taken him off the radar somewhat.
We’ll see if Indiana can get him on campus for a visit. There has been some speculation about a potential reclassification to the class of 2025, although not much of recent vintage.
