This one has been in the works for a while.

Indiana offered class of 2022 West Virginia based guard Isaac McKneely on Thursday.

McKneely reported the offer on his Twitter page.

    — Isaac McKneely (@IsaacMcKneely) August 20, 2020

McKneely took an unofficial visit to Bloomington in December in connection with the basketball game against Arkansas.

From there, the McKneely has had a regular dialogue with Archie Miller and the IU coaching staff.

McKneely averaged 22 points per game as a high school sophomore, and he converted on 45-percent of his 3-point attempts.  He added 4 rebounds and 3 assists per contest.

The Poca H.S. product helped lead the Dots to 21-3 record.  Poca was ranked No. 6 in its class when the season was suspended on the night the Class AA regionals were scheduled.

Best thought of as a combo guard, McKneely is a lethal perimeter shooter, but he also has the ball handling skills to get past his man on the bounce, and the athleticism to finish at the rim.

For AAU McKneely plays for the Pittsburgh based Wildcat Select (Adidas) program.

McKneely has received several high major offers this spring and summer.  Illinois, Virginia, West Virginia, Iowa, N.C. State and Ohio State are some of the other top schools in his recruitment right now.  IU has been frequently mentioned in reports as one of the schools recruiting McKneely the hardest going back to his visit.

The 6-foot-4 McKneely is currently the No. 50 player in the 2022 class according to the 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 9 shooting guard nationally and the No. 1 player in West Virginia according to that same service.

McKneely is the eleventh player that IU has offered in the class of 2022.  To see the complete list, GO HERE.

You can watch summer highlights of McKneely below as well as a recent interview where he discusses his recruitment and much more.
