Indiana continues to aggressively recruit the Washington D.C. metro area.
The program’s latest offer to a DMV player went out Friday to 2027 guard Jymin Veney.
A 6-foot-3 guard, Veney attends St. John’s College H.S. in Washington D.C.
Veney’s only national ranking so far is by Rivals. That outlet says he’s a 3-star and the No. 139 player in the 2027 class. He’s been generating buzz this summer, so a move up the rankings and more offers won’t come as a major surprise.
Indiana appears to be the first high major offer for Veney. He’s also been offered by LaSalle, Old Dominion, St. Joseph’s and East Carolina.
For travel basketball Veney plays for 16U Team Melo on the Nike EYBL Circuit. He’s averaging 14.6 points, 3.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 56.7% from two and 88% at the free throw line. He has only made 5 of 26 from three but his free throw numbers suggest he’s got potential as a shooter. Veney made 2 of 5 from three in his most recent game at the Nike Peach Jam, and his shot mechanics look solid.
On film Veney is a fast, well-built, physical and skilled guard who excels and getting downhill and finishing at the rim. He’s also adept at getting to open spots in the midrange for pull-up jumpers off the bounce.
