IU basketball recruiting: Hoosiers offer 2024 center Raleigh Burgess during visit

Indiana has offered Cincinnati, Ohio based center Raleigh Burgess.

The 6-foot-10 Burgess announced the offer after taking an unofficial visit to Bloomington on Tuesday.

After my unofficial visit today and a talk with @MikeWoodsonNBA and @B_Walsh2 , I’m very excited to announce that I have received an offer from Indiana University! @IndianaMBB pic.twitter.com/Y6OumLLBEJ

    — Raleigh Burgess (@raleigh_burgess) June 15, 2022

As a sophomore for Sycamore H.S., Burgess averaged 10.5 points, 6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 21.6 minutes per contest.  He shot 62.6 percent from the field overall including 34.8 percent from 3-point range (on 23 attempts).  Sycamore finished 21-3 during the 2021-2022 season and a 13-2 record in conference play, winning the Greater-Miami league.

For spring and summer basketball Burgess plays for the Indiana Elite Adidas 3SSB program.  He is teammates with fellow IU prospect Travis Perry.  In nine games on the Adidas circuit Burgess is averaging 10 points. 5.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 50.8 percent from the field overall and 35.7 percent from three on 28 attempts.

Burgess made multiple trips to Bloomington for IU basketball games during the 2021-22 season.

The Daily Hoosier has had the chance to see Burgess in action on multiple occasions during the spring.  He is a well built post player with good mobility who can run the floor and also step out and make jump shots with an impressive stroke.  Burgess is tough-minded, physical, and he should end up being plenty big and strong enough to hold his own at the high major level.

Indiana is the third high major to offer Burgess this spring, joining Ole Miss and Cincinnati.  Wake Forest and Penn State also offered on Wednesday.  He is not currently ranked by the major outlets.

As is the case with most prospects from Ohio, assistant coach Brian Walsh is leading the charge for IU on this recruitment.
