The most significant open question on Indiana’s roster for the 2020-21 season has been answered.

According to sources, Khristian Lander has met all of the requirements to reclassify and will be part of the IU team for the upcoming season.

Now the top rated recruit in IU’s 2020 class, Lander has signed his national letter of intent and will join his teammates when the relevant NCAA/Big Ten/IU COVID-19 pandemic restrictions are removed.

Lander committed to Indiana in February and has had reclassification on his mind for more than six months.

The Daily Hoosier, in collaboration with Nick Baumgart, was the first to report that Lander might reclassify back in October.

Lander was averaging 21 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists for his junior season at Evansville Reitz. The Panthers (17-7) had advanced to the Class 4A Seymour Regional before the 2019-20 campaign was canceled.

The 6-foot-2 Lander becomes the fourth member of the 2020 class, joining Trey Galloway, Jordan Geronimo and Anthony Leal.  Lander was a 5-star recruit in the class of 2021, and the highest rated point guard among juniors according to 247Sports.

National recruiting services 247Sports and Rivals have added Lander to Indiana’s 2020 class, and the Hoosiers now have the No. 13 and No. 10 class in the nation, respectively.

Lander, Galloway and Leal were AAU teammates last spring and summer with the Adidas affiliated Indiana Elite AAU program.

Lander and his fellow 2020 classmates are waiting for word from IU on when they will be permitted to arrive on campus.

Incoming freshmen with the IU basketball program typically move to Bloomington in early to mid-June.
